Upon seeing Kieran''s surprised expression, L smiled. Both of their hearts were racing with joy at this long-awaited reunion.
Kieran lowered his head and looked at L. His gaze was gentle as he pulled her into his embrace. He waited for her to speak up.
"I''m here to fulfill the promise. Let''s go and see the stars."
L pointed at the night sky, and Kieran raised his head to look at the sky. There weren''t many stars visible in the city.
Without waiting for Kieran to say anything. L pulled him and walked forward. Then, she pushed him into the passenger''s seat domineeringly.
It was rare for Kieran to be in a passive position. He let L do whatever she wanted. Once she sat in the driver''s seat, she buckled up. Like a pilot, she asked solemnly, "Are you ready?"
Kieran chuckled and went along with her act. "I''m ready."
"Let''s go then!" L''s voice was cheerful as she smiled.
As Kieran looked at L''s smile, the exhaustion that built up in him dissipated. A whileter, she said, "You can sleep for a while. There''s still a long way to go. I''ll wake you up when we arrive."
L could sense how tired Kieran was. She decided toe over because she wanted him to rx.
Kieran hummed in response. Although he didn''t want to miss the chance to see the scenery outside with herpany, he knew that he had almost reached his limit. So, he closed his eyes obediently. His breath became steady.
Afraid of disturbing Kieran''s rest, L slowed the car down. When Kieran woke up, the car happened to stop in an empty area.
Kieran and L got out of the car, and she pulled him forward. Aside from them, there were other people around. They gathered next to the tent and chatted while eating.
L stopped by a tent and unzipped it. Then, she took off her shoes and went in before waving at Kieran to get in. At that, he lowered his head, his gaze full of affection for her.
L made space for Kieran. However, when he entered the tent, he reached out and pulled her into his embrace.
She could feel his chest on her back. She nced at him through the corner of her eye and rested her chin on his shoulder.
Kieran closed his eyes, enjoying the moment of being together. L''s smile also deepened. She patted him on the arm, signaling him to let go.
He saw that she had taken something from the side. It was only then that he noticed there was a huge bag in the corner.
"I''m sure you haven''t eaten, so I bought food in advance. You should eat first."
Kieran tilted his head and ced a soft peck next to L''s ear. After the meal, she nestled in his arms and looked at the sky.
The wind was slightly cold. Kieran and L didn''t speak. The world was so silent that it felt like there were only two of them.
A long whileter, L hugged Kieran. "It''ll be spring soon."
He knew what she meant. Everything would be better soon. The pain of losing a family member would pass, and thepany would get better.
Kieran lowered his head and buried his face in L''s neck. Then, he responded, "I''ll take that as a good sign from you."
L didn''t stay here for long. The
next day, she took an early flight et
back to Vertoria. She thought that she would be busy with work soon, so she decided to visit Nicole first.
She headed to the Morgan residence afternding in Vertoria.
A car was parked in the courtyard of the Morgan residence. L thought about and realized it was the ar used by Stefan and Faith when they came previously.
Why were they here? Could they really help the Morgan family? If so, Kieran
didn''t need to carry such a heavy burden anymore.
L pursed her lips and quickened
her pace. Once she opened the door,
she heard Nicole''s weak voice. "Uncle Stefan, marriage is a huge
deal. How can it be changed so easily? Besides, I don''t have the right to make a decision for anyone."
