Vespera eximed, "Byron''s much younger than mell How could I ever dare him? I don''t really want to lie to you about why I''m here because I still want to keep it
Gerard shrugged. If only Vespera and Dominic had considered joining the Secret Service as a deadly duo. As for Gerard, he had had enough of being tormented for the whole moming.
Once lunch was over, Vespera and the others left the restaurant. After picking up the medicine from the hotel front desk, they walked out of the hotel,
As soon as they drove out from the hotel''s underground parking lot, they saw Calvert waving at them from the roadside.
"That''s Calvert." Reba gestured for Byron to stop the car.
Calven swaggered over confidently and hopped into the passenger seat in front. "Mr. Reid asked me to protect you. Ladies and gentlemen..."
Calvert tossed his head confidently. "All of you will be well protected."
Vespera, Reba, and Byron were at a loss for words. Calvert had a severe case of narcissism.
Then, Vespera and Reba recalled that Calvert was excellent at racing cars, shadowing others, and picking locks. He was even good at ying ghost. Since Calvert was good at many things, they dly epted him as part of the team.
Byson was not having it. "I can protect them too."
Calvert smiled dismissively but did not burst his bubble "Sure You can protect them, and I''ll watch out for everyone. We won''t get in each other''s way."
In the back seat, Vespera asked, "Does Mr. Reid know what we''re doing?"
"Of course not. He did say you can do whatever you like and back out whenever you want to. He''ll cover you as long as you don''t hurt yourself by going too far." After answering Vespera, Calvert leaned backfortably in his seat and went to sleep
Vespera was touched. Dominic still looked out for her even after how she had treated him
Reba leaned toward her. "That man is really thoughtful. He knows what you''re thinking and is quietly supporting you.
*He even sent his best bodyguard to protect you. Most importantly, he''s so handsome! Aren''t you moved at all? If you aren''t, you''re probably not even human!" Vespera sighed. "Stop it. Otherwise, I might cry."
"Moved to tears?"
“No, I just feel sorry for him. I''m a cold-hearted woman and much worse than others."
Reba was speechless. Dominic did seem quite pititul
Byron drove through the city before finally arriving at an ordinarymunity. Although there was security at the entrance, anyone could just enter the area. The iron gates remained wide open so cars and electric scooters coulde and go as they pleased.
Vespera and her friends entered themunity easily. Once they were inside, they could even park the car wherever they liked.
After Byron packed the car on the grass next to the apartment they wanted to visit, all four of them got out of the vehicle.
Vespera and Reba walked ahead while Calvert and Byron followed them. They headed for the 16th floor and looked for Unit 1609.
Reba rang the doorbell. Not long after, a young woman, Jade Watson, came to open the door. She was all skin and bones and had delicate features. She was probably a great beauty if it weren''t for the ugly, long scar on the left side of her face.
"Who are you looking for? Feeling slightly nervous, jade subconsciously covered the left side of her face.
"Jade Watson, right?"
Reba alorady recognized Jade. Aside from the scar on her cheek, she looked very simr to the school pictures Reba had seen
From what Reba understood, Jade immediately dropped out of school after Quentin went missing. She had no idea that Jade had a scar on her face.
The same thought struck Reba and Vespera''s minds. Tina had dropped out of the school in Halewick because she scratched a young woman''s face. Did Tina scratch Jade''s face as well?
