Chapter 1744

He figured she''d never have to dig out her old identity papers again. Something must''vee up to make her break that promise.

Paxton didn''t press for details. He just said, "Go on. We old folks here will keep everything under control."

Nellie was quiet for a bit before nodding, "Thanks."

"It''s been tough on you all these years," Paxton sighed. If it weren''t for her role as the leader, she wouldn''t have ended up like this.

Nellie turned away, keeping her emotions in check, and said, "I''ll head off now."

    "Alright."

Paxton nodded, watching her leave until she vanished from sight, then slowly brought his gaze back.

Meanwhile, Mirabe noticed Nellie hadn''t replied, so she put her phone away. She turned her attention to Cassie, who was sprawled out on the bed, saying nothing for a moment.

Cassie, feeling uneasy under her gaze, asked cautiously, "Why are you looking at me like that?"

Mirabe arched an eyebrow and lowered her legs. "No reason."

"I don''t buy it," Cassie muttered, feeling like his sister was brewing some grand scheme.

Mirabe brushed off his suspicion and changed the subject, "What''s going on with school?"

"Those assignments are a breeze. I talked it over with Mr. Hammond, and I''ll just study at home and go straight to the finals," Cassie shrugged.

With finals about a month and a half away, Mirabe nodded, "Sounds good."

She thought for a moment, then texted Nick, asking where he got the study materials he''d given her a couple of years back.

Cassie should focus on what students should do, she figured. Three boxes of tough study materials were absolutely essential. Unaware of the avnche of working his way, Cassie took the

    talk

chance to ask, "Hey, can we?

    about something?"

Mirabe didn''t even look up, "Shoot."

"Uh, could you maybe get those Emmitts to stop ying games with me?" Cassie looked pained.

They were more of a burden than a help. He could''ve yed better with his eyes closed.

Mirabe finally looked up, surprisingly agreeable, “Sure.”

Cassie blinked, taken aback by how easily she agreed. It wasn''t like her at all.

After getting Nick''s response, Mirabe smiled, feeling pretty good, "You get some rest. I''m off to see Dr. Ray."

Cassie, suddenly feeling a sense of doom, thought, “...”

Nick, after wrapping up his chat with Mirabe, called his old assistant overseas.

He told him to get the study

    materials ready ASAP. After giving

    instructions, he dived back into instructions;

work, needing to look up some.

    documents, and then went with

colleagues to the advanced research library.

Sincest year''s document theft incident at the medical school, he was cleared of suspicion. With his recent contributions to theb''s research, his researcher status got a little bump up.

Before, he could only ess the regr library, but now he had the green light for the advanced research library.

This was his seventh trip to the advanced library today, and thanks tost year''s incident, the door now needed multiple verifications to open.

Security was tight. There were even 360-degree surveince cameras inside the library.
