Chapter 1729

Cassie was out cold, so he didn''t say anything else. Mirabe checked his pulse again and, once she was sure he was stable, she turned to the nurse beside her. "Could you keep an eye on him, please? Thanks."

The nurse nodded, and Mirabe gave a quick nod back before hurrying out with the blood bag in hand.

When she got back to Jim''s room, Dr. Ray had already taken out all the equipment, just like she asked.

"The patient''s temperature is creeping up; we need to start the transfusion right away," Dr. Ray said, ncing at the monitors.

Mirabe had already hung the blood bag and was injecting a fusion agent into it with a syringe.

Dr. Ray watched, still not entirely convinced. "Are we sure this is gonna work?"

Sure, universal blood is like gold dust, but the previous tests had shown it didn''t y nice with the patient''s blood.

If this new fusion agent could really fix that mismatch, it''d be the talk of the medical world.

"Maybe," Mirabe said, pausing for a moment before pushing the needle into Jim''s artery.

The blood started to flow slowly into his body.

Dr. Ray, standing nearby, nervously wrung his hands. If the blood didn''t mix well, it could lead to a serious hemolytic reaction, causing kidney failure or even immediate shock.

Jim, being the Davis family heir, was already hanging by a thread; a bad reaction could be the end of him.

But a few minutes passed, and no rms went off. Instead, the monitors showed his stats were picking up.

Did it actually work? Dr. Ray''s eyes went wide. "Wow, this is unbelievable!"

Mirabe didn''t pay any mind to Dr Ray''s surprise, as if she''d expected this oue. After a moment, she adjusted the transfusion speed to slow it down a touch.

Dr. Ray finally snapped out of his shock. Noticing Mirabe''s calmness, he cleared his throat to regain hisposure.

was shown up by this young

woman''s coolness under pressure. If others saw this, it''d be a tad embarrassing.

Dr. Ray rubbed his forehead and looked at the blood bag again, a serious expression returning. "The 1200 milliliters we''ve got might not cut it. To hit the bare minimum, we''d need another 1000."

He knew the donor was just a teenager; taking that much blood was already pushing it. Any more could be dangerous.

Thinking it over, he added, "Since this universal blood can save Keir, I''ll give the blood bank a call and check for more stock..."

Mirabe cut in, "Thanks, but that won''t be necessary."

During her tests, she discovered that Cassie''s blood had some unique element.

She hadn''t dug too deep into it but knew that once Nellie''s fusion agent was added, it blended perfectly with Chester''s blood.

When she tried her blood with the agent, it didn''t work.

So, it looked like only that young boy''s blood could do the trick for Chester.

Dr. Ray hesitated, his hand hovering over his phone, "Are you sure? If we run out

of blood, all our efforts might be for nothing."
