Chapter 1711

Grady was caught off guard by Mirabe''sment, especially when she mentioned the importance of the right season for foraging. It reminded him of the times years back when Nellie would share simr insights with him. Different seasons meant different results when gathering herbs, she''d say.

Grady shook off his daze, realizing he wasn''t exactly an expert on herbs. He offered, "How about I take you there?"

Mirabe smiled warmly, "No need, Uncle. Just lend me a car, and I can drive myself."

Grady waved off her suggestion. "I''ve got nothing better to do right now. I''ll join you."

Seeing he was set on apanying her, Mirabe didn''t put up a fight. The two of them soon headed out.

As they drove past the mansion gates and looped around the grand fountain, they came face to face with a line of sleek, ck sedans approaching from the opposite direction. Grady''s demeanor shifted to one of caution.

The lead car honked a few times, prompting Grady to frown and hit the brakes. In the backseat, Mirabe, who had been casually scrolling through her phone, nced up.

Men in ck suits emerged from the sedans, lining up beside the leading vehicle. Shortly after, the rear door of that car swung open, and out stepped a man in his sixties, slightly overweight and holding a rosary. He approached them at a

    leisurely pace.

Grady unbuckled his seatbelt, turning to Mirabe, "I''ll be right back," before getting out of the car.

"Mr. Jaime, what brings you here today?" Grady greeted the man with a nod, keeping his cool.

    Jaime, fiddling with his rosary

beads, didn''t answer right away. He looked over at the car behind Grady, though the tinted windows revealed nothing. Turning back to Grady he finally spoke, "I heard Keir''s long-lost niece is visiting?"

Grady''s brow furrowed a bit at Jaime''s mention of "niece." "You''re always well- informed, Mr. Jaime. Yes, Miss Mira has indeed returned."

Jaime seemed unfazed by Grady''s slight correction. A faint smile yed on his lips. "Seems my trip wasn''t for nothing."

Grady''s eyes narrowed slightly. Mr. Jaime''s visits to the family estate rarely spelled good news. Clearly, today he had his sights set on Miss Mira.

Jaime continued, "I''ve heard Keir''s niece is quite impressive, a true heir in the making. It''s about time I met her."

Grady kept his expression neutral. "I''m afraid you might be disappointed, Mr. Jaime. Keir''s not here, and Miss Mira isn''t avable to meet guests right now."

"Why not? We''re family, after all," Jaime insisted, clearly determined.

Grady could tell Jaime wasn''t leaving without a fuss. After a brief pause, he said, "Feel free to make yourselffortable. I''ve got some things to take care of, so I''ll be on my way."

With that, Grady nodded, turned back to the car, and drove off.

Jaime watched the car fade into the distance, his expression unreadable. Just a mere servant of the Davis family, acting like he was something more. Jaime scoffed quietly then strolled toward the mansion.
