As soon as she finished speaking, a shy, limited-edition sports car rolled up to the restaurant entrance. Out stepped a strikingly handsome man in a bright, trendy jacket. He unbuckled his seatbelt and got out, making his way straight to Mirabe.
"Mom... Am Ite?" Dn almost blurted out by mistake.
Mirabe couldn''t quite appreciate Dn''s over-the-top style. She rubbed her forehead, wishing she could just pretend they weren''t acquainted. "No, you''re just on time."
"On time?" Dn looked confused.
Mirabe cleared her throat, "I mean, you got here just in time."
Dn looked even more puzzled. "Huh?"
Ignoring him, Mirabe turned to ze and the others, saying, "Guys, I gotta go." ze nodded absentmindedly, his eyes still glued to Dn. "Oh, okay."
Mirabe nodded back, then headed towards the sports car. Seeing this, Dn nced at ze and his friends, gave a polite nod, and quickly went to open the car door for Mirabe. Once she was seated, he closed the door and walked around to get back into the driver''s seat.
The whole scene looked like the boss with her trusty sidekick.
ze watched the car drive away, finally snapping out of it. "Mira must be the daughter of some big-shot tycoon!"
"Quit dreaming," Patrick said with a smirk.
"Come on, wouldn''t you feel cool knowing Mira, a tycoon''s daughter?" ze puffed up his chest, feeling a bit smug.
Patrick just shook his head as their ride arrived. He nudged ze, "Alright, let''s get in."
As they got into their car, some ssmates from the math department behind them sneered, "A tycoon''s daughter? That''s a bit much."
Just because she stayed in a fancy suite, now she''s a tycoon''s daughter? Isn''t that stretching it a bit?
Yara overheard and just smiled, shaking her head. "Never underestimate anyone."
Anyone connected to the Shepherd family probably isn''t from an
ordinary background, right? She
thought she should ask her mom about it when she got home.
**In the car. **
Dn was about to raise the convertible''s top, but Mirabe stopped him. "When''s your flight back to the States?"
Dn asked, curious.
Mirabe casually rested her hand
on the car door frame. The wind
blew her hair back, adding a touch of carefree charm to her bright face. "Day after tomorrow."
"That soon?" Dn was surprised. He thought she''d stay a few more days and had a bunch of tech questions lined up for her.
Mirabe tilted her head slightly, raising an eyebrow at Dn. "What, gonna miss your mentor?"
Dn''s lips twitched, his expression a bit tangled. "You, a woman, why do you always act like everyone''s mentor?"
Mirabe shrugged, brimming with confidence. "What can I say? Talent speaks for itself."
Dn: "..."
He forgot how shameless she could be.
"Actually, we have a load of tricky tech issues at work," Dn said with a half-smile. "We could really use
someone with your skills."
Mirabe nced at him with mock disdain. "Maybe you should try sleeping with
your pillow a bit higher."
