Joen was so mad he actually fainted. His assistant panicked and called an ambnce right away. Naturally, when another ambnce rolled into campus, the students were all buzzing, wondering if something big had gone down again, like the previous day.
Meanwhile, Mirabe stepped out of the restroom. "Mirabe, you feeling alright?" Robert, who''d been waiting outside forever, asked with genuine concern when he finally saw her.
"Yeah, maybe I caught a chill from falling in the water yesterday," Mirabe said, giving her stomach a little rub for show.
Robert didn''t question it. He thought for a moment and suggested, "Maybe you should head back to the hotel and rest up. This afternoon''s seminar is just a load of formalities anyway."
Robert''s such a good guy! Mirabe mused silently, then reassured him, "No worries, Professor, I can handle it."
Robert gave her a once-over, "Alright, but let me know if you''re not feeling up to it."
Mirabe nodded. It wasn''t really about the seminar; Joen''sb was in chaos, and the school might lock everything down. Leaving suddenly would probably make people suspicious.
Soon enough, she and Robert met up with ze and the crew. Instead of heading to the cafeteria for lunch with them, Mirabe went to find Grady.
With theb incident, the school had shut down all entrances and exits. Even though Grady was a VIP guest of Mr. Hammond, security was on high alert. Mr. Hammond figured it was best to have Grady escorted to the guest lounge, where he could rx, and had some food sent over.
Grady had no ns to leave, so the setup was just fine by him. In the lounge, it was just him and Xiao Xie, no other professors in sight.
"The campus is on lockdown," Xiao Xie noted, returning from the window and ncing at Grady, who looked as calm as ever, not a hint of tension despite being the brains behind the whole mess. Even Xiao Xie''s update didn''t faze him.
He checked his watch and said, "Miss Mira should be here soon. Go wait for her outside."
Xiao Xie nodded and headed out without a trace of worry. As he got downstairs, he spotted Mirabe walking in. His eyes brightened, and he gave her a respectful nod.
At that moment, the lobby had just one security guard on duty, and no professors
around. The guard assumed they were students and let them be.
Mirabe and Xiao Xie got into the elevator. Xiao Xie pressed the button for their floor, nced at the camera, and reassured her, "Miss Mira, don''t worry. The school''s
surveince is down."
Mirabe raised an eyebrow. "So, you guys were behind theb chaos?"
Bold move, she thought. In broad daylight, no less.
Xiao Xie was taken aback and looked at her in shock, "Miss Mira... how did you figure that out?"
Did Grady spill the beans? But he was supposed to keep her in the dark about the whole school situation.
Mirabe sighed lightly, then shifted her focus from the elevator doors to Xiao Xie. "If I told you I can see into the future, would you buy it?"
Xiao Xie''s cheek twitched slightly.
Mirabe chuckled and said, "I''m pretty handy withputers."
Xiao Xie was left scratching his head, still not sure how her
int. Just then, the elevator
dinged, signaling they had arrived.
