The call went through pretty quickly this time.
Before Mirabe could even get a word in, she heard his low voice on the line, "Ms. Mirabe, decided to remember your boyfriend, did you?"
Feeling a bit on the defensive, Mirabe just sighed, "... Your phone was unreachable."
"That''s not true. Except for the two hours I was stuck in the airport café with no signal, my phone''s been working just fine for thest hour," James replied, letting out a sigh.
Mirabe''s eyebrows shot up, catching onto what he said, "You sat in a café for two hours? Why?"
"If I said it was a test of true love, would you buy it?" James was still in his car, his head resting against the seat, ncing at the grand hotel entrance outside.
His words made Mirabe remember the two calls Grady had taken earlier. She rubbed her temples, "Where are you now?"
"Haven''t had dinner yet," James dodged her question.
Mirabe stood by the open elevator doors, watching as a fellow guest waited for her to join. But hearing James, she waved them off and headed back toward the hotel''s entrance.
"Where?" she asked again over the phone.
"Out front."
Mirabe nodded, hanging up the call.
She stepped outside, scanning the area until she spotted a ck car parked nearby. After a brief pause, she walked over.
As she approached, the driver''s window slowly rolled down, revealing James'' handsome face.
Mirabe gave him a quick nce, not bothering to ask how he found out which hotel she was at. "You''re not usually this obedient."
James unbuckled his seatbelt, got out, and immediately pulled her into a hug, "Starving."
Mirabe yfully pushed him away, "Serves you right."
James chuckled, pulling her back in, "Alright, alright, just teasing."
This time, Mirabe didn''t resist.
After a moment, James let her go but kept holding her hand as they walked back into the hotel.
"What floor?" James asked, looking at her with his finger poised over the elevator buttons.
Mirabe mentioned the top floor.
James raised an eyebrow, "Living the high life, huh?"
"Not really, I''m broke," Mirabe shot back quickly, then added, "Was my call international?"
James just sighed, pulling out his phone.
After a moment, he put it away and, watching the elevator numbers
climb, casually asked.
your
school got nned for tomorrow?"
"Probably a visit to Riverside University," Mirabe answered, recalling Robert''s earlier mention.
James nodded, "Stay safe."
Mirabe caught the concern in his voice and just smiled.
With a soft ding, the elevator reached the top floor.
The doors opened, and they stepped out hand in hand.
Grady had booked two rooms, with Mirabe having her own right next door to Robert and ze.
Once inside, Mirabe soon got a message from Robert asking if she could drop by their room.
