Chapter 1529

The next morning, Mirabe and Zane met at the entrance of Anderson Public School.

"So, this must be your brother. He looks quite a bit like you," Zane said with a smile, ncing at the young man standing next to Mirabe.

Mirabe raised her eyebrows slightly, noting Zane''s talent for making tantly untrue statements was as strong as ever.

Cassie, standing beside them, immediately grinned, showing off his neat, white teeth, "Hello, teacher."

"Don''t be nervous during the interview. Just approach it with a normal mindset," Zane said, nodding kindly.

He always had a soft spot for well-behaved and sensible kids. However, he recalled how Mirabe had seemed obedient at first, only to reveal herself as a hidden troublemaker as he got to know her better.

With a sense of nostalgia, Zane quickly led Mirabe and her brother into the school.

School wouldn''t start for another couple of days, so it was quite peaceful.

Zane''s friend, who was teaching the first year of high school, was who Mirabe had considered for Cassie after some thought, despite him being older for the grade. With absolutely no academic foundation, Mirabe would have preferred to start him in elementary school, if not for his age.

After speaking with his friend for a moment, the friend pulled out a test paper he had prepared in advance and took Cassie to a small office next door.

"Don''t worry, the questions for the first year won''t be tooplex," Zane reassured Mirabe, thinking she was anxious.

Mirabe looked away, softly acknowledging. She wasn''t worried about the questions, but rather if Cassie would act out against the teacher, not wanting to study.

"Has your brother really never attended school before?" Zane inquired, looking at her.

"He was unwell, so we had a tutor at home," Mirabe offered the prepared

    excuse.

Hearing this, Zane didn''t question the veracity of her statement, "He''s alright now, though?"

Mirabe nodded, "Yes, thank you for your concern. He''s much better."

Zane smiled, but then his phone rang, cutting the conversation short. He hesitated for a moment before answering, his expression a mix of nervousness and anticipation.

Mirabe raised an eyebrow, rarely seeing Zane like this.

After a few moments, Zane ended the call, almost beaming with joy He looked at Mirabe, his voice filled

excitement, "That was from SC. Your paper got epted."

Mirabe responded calmly, "That was quick."

Zane''s mouth twitched, "This is your first paper, and it got selected for an SCI

journal. Aren''t you the least bit excited?"

Mirabe forced a smile, "I''m very happy, teacher."

Zane decided not to dwell on

    Mirabe''s reaction, fearing he

might end up giving her a length

lecture. Instead, he shared the good news with Jessie and a few others.

Seeing their excited reactions, Zane felt this was the normal response one should have.

Mirabe, in his eyes, was not a normal student.

Half an hourter, Cassie''s written test and interview concluded, and Zane''s

friend, with aplex expression, returned to the office.

Mirabe noticed the teacher''s face, her forehead twitching. She could guess the oue without asking.

"How did the interview go?" Seeing the teacher''s expression, Zane felt a pang of worry and quickly asked.
