Chapter 1522

Mirabe hailed a cab from the roadside. After ensuring Cassie got in, she took her seat.

As soon as they were settled, Cassie''s voice filled the space, "Sis, you''re not doing so well, huh? Don''t even have your own car."

A twitch ran through Mirabe''s temple as she fought to keep her cool and gave the driver an address.

Then, she pulled out her phone, switched it to desktop mode, and erased any traces of her dealings in the underground market before tucking it away again. Cassie, sitting quietly beside her, watched until she was done, then slowly produced a card from her pocket and shyly pushed it into Mirabe''s hands. Mirabe nced at the card, then back at Cassie with a questioning look.

"It''s for you to buy a car," Cassie said with a grin.

The young man''s fairplexion, ented with dimples as he smiled, made him look like a wolf cub seeking approval.

A softness flickered in the depths of Mirabe''s eyes. Ultimately, she didn''t y coy and epted the card, slipping it into her purse. After a moment, she added, "From now on, any money you get goes to me."

Cassie''s smile twitched, "Are you really that broke?"

Mirabe, keeping her face straight, yed along, "Yeah, I''m genuinely broke. Even had to rely on schrships for college."

Cassie might not fully grasp Mirabe''s current situation but felt it couldn''t be as dire as she described.

It was only upon returning to the upscale neighborhood and seeing the supposed "poor" sister''s luxurious mansion that Cassie felt utterly bamboozled.

He might not have been formally educated, but as a savvyizen, he knew well enough—people living in mansions weren''t poor.

As Mirabe used her fingerprint to unlock the door and noticed Cassiegging behind, she turned back, "Cassie?"

Snapping back to reality, Cassie felt like he''d been duped, "Give me back my card."

"Am I not your sister?" Mirabe raised an eyebrow.

Cassie, conflicted yet not daring to deny it, eximed in frustration, "!!!"

Leaning against the doorframe, Mirabe tilted her head, "So, are youing in?"

With a huff, Cassie didn''t reply but his steps into the house spoke volumes.

Mirabe watched his retreating figure with a shake of her head, then closed the door.

Passing the garage, Cassie caught sight

He realized he''d been naively fooled by Mirabe''s pretense.

    Following Mirabe inside with a

scowl, they were met by Marian, the housekeeper, who, noticing the handsome young guest, curiously approached but refrained from prying. After offering Cassiea ss of water, she discreetly left them alone.

Now it was just Cassie and Mirabe in the living room.

Holding the ss, Cassie took another look at Mirabe andmented, "You look different, almost unrecognizable."

"This is the real me," Mirabe''s eyebrows lifted slightly.

Aware of the unique aspects of Mirabe''s family, Cassie couldn''t help but let out a soft sigh.

Mirabe nced at him with disdain, "So young and already sighing like an old man."

    Used to her variousints,

Cassie instead began surveying the room''s decor. Spotting a robot not far off, he set down his ss and went over. After a brief interaction with the robot''s control p, his interest waned.

Returning to his seat, Cassie remarked, "I thought that robot was a new addition."

"It''s so outdated, not advanced at all."
