Niki caught a smile on Mirabe''s face and was momentarily taken aback.
It was an odd smile.
Mirabe nced past Niki, leisurely picked up her coffee cup, and took a sip without asking much about the Stevenson family. "So, what does Presley want?"
Niki didn''t expect Mirabe to see through the situation so quickly; he gave a wry smile before responding, "A prescription."
Mirabe''s face didn''t show surprise upon hearing this; she had already guessed as much.
"It''s a family misfortune," Niki continued. "My brother Dane... he''s currently working for Presley, and Presley is not a kind soul."
In truth, Niki didn''t know Presley well, having met him only once or twice. But from the matter of the prescription, he could roughly tell what kind of person Presley was.
Mirabe''s gaze was serene. "I know." After pondering for a moment, she looked up at Niki. "If I''m not wrong, the news of James''s recurring illness was also spread by Presley, right?"
At this point, Niki had nothing to hide. "Yes."
Mirabe nodded. She had heard from Wyatt about James''s secretive illness, and it seemed to be closely rted to Presley.
Only someone deeply familiar with James''s condition and knowledgeable about pharmacology could silently draw out his hidden illness.
As for the person behind Presley... Mirabe narrowed her eyes, indicating a bit of curiosity.
Niki observed Mirabe, seeing her serious expression but unable to discern her thoughts. After hesitating for a while, he spoke again, "Now, only the Stevenson family''s medicine can save James, Mirabe..."
Mirabe collected her thoughts and said, "Put it this way, if Presley truly knew someone from the Stevenson family, he wouldn''t covet my prescription."
Niki was taken aback. He had been anxious about the prescription fromst night until now, never considering that if Presley truly had ess to the medicine or knew someone from the Stevenson family, why would he go to such lengths to scheme for Mirabe''s prescription.
This was indeed contradictory.
"But regardless, James''s health..." Niki opened his mouth, wanting to say something, when the door of the private room was pushed open, and a waiter came in to serve the dishes.
Immediately, Niki stopped speaking.
After the waiter left, Mirabe, as if she had already understood Niki''s
CS, picked up a fork a
"When
do you n to go and said,
Niki?"
Niki was puzzled by Mirabe''s sudden question. "Not so soon."
Mirabe took a bite of her steak and added, "You don''t need to worry about James''s health. I''ll find a solution. You should go back sooner."
Niki didn''t start eating; his eyes fixed on Mirabe, he just gave a bitter smile and shook his head How could he not understand the implication of her words?
Now that Dane had chosen to stand with Presley, how could he leave with peace of mind?
He couldn''t bear to see Dane sink deeper into trouble.

After dinner, Mirabe returned to the university.
Just as she arrived at the ssroom, Zane sent her a message asking her toe to his office.
"Professor, you wanted to see me?" Soon after, Mirabe knocked on the office door.
Zane looked up at the entrance, waved her in, then turned hisptop around so the screen faced Mirabe. "Come, take a look at this email."
Mirabe stepped closer, raised an eyebrow at Zane, and then turned her attention to theptop screen. "What email?"
