Chapter 1393

Mirabe was blissfully unaware of the storm of feelings brewing inside Devon. After handing him the prescription, she turned her attention back to David. "Hey David, remember that picture of a herb you sent mest time? Is the owner looking to sell it?"

David straightened up, a bit surprised by her question. He didn''t linger on why she referred to the owner that way, instead asking, "You''re interested in that herb too?"

"Too?" Mirabe''s eyes narrowed slightly as she gave a nod.

David recalled how the herb had been the catalyst for Presley''s antics, stirring up quite themotion in the association. With a soft sigh, he said, "It''s no use trying to buy it now-someone''s already taken it."

"Taken?" Mirabe was puzzled. To anyone outside her family, the herb was nothing more than a weed.

"Yeah," David nodded. The association was a mess, and he didn''t want to drag Mirabe into it, so he kept it brief. After a pause, he asked, "But what exactly is this herb for? I couldn''t find anything about it in the records."

Mirabe''s fingers interlocked gently as she replied, "It''s a herb that ordinary folks wouldn''t need."

David, aware of Mirabe''s unique family background, was curious but respected her decision not to borate further.

"Is the owner still at the botanical base?" Mirabe asked, getting to the heart of her concern.

"No, Paul sometimes goes back to his family home down south. He dide back recently, but then we suddenly lost contact," David exined honestly.

He had worried that Presley might have tracked Paul down, so he had his assistant keep tabs. Yet, a call from his assistant a few days ago confirmed that Presley hadn''t found Paul either.

"Still no contact at all?" Mirabe inquired.

"Yeah, maybe he''s tied up with something or went back south again," David spected, then nced at Mirabe. "Are you after him because of that herb?"

Considering how elusive Morgan was, Mirabe nodded in agreement with David''s words. "David, do you have his contact info?"

"Sure, I''ll send his number to you on Messenger," David replied.

"Thanks," Mirabe nodded slightly, deciding not to press any further about Morgan.

Shortly after, Mirabe left the Wang residence.

When Devon returned after seeing her off, he found David examining the two prescriptions Mirabe had left. He pulled up a chair by the bed, his voice tinged with astonishment, "Presley went to great lengths to get Ms. Mirabe''s prescriptions, yet she handed us two just like that."

David passed the prescriptions to Devon, simply saying, "She has her reasons for giving them to Just

    focus on studying them "tent

"Reasons?" Devon looked at his mentor, puzzled.

David eased back onto the bed, his expression calm, "Xiaohe, I''m getting old and won''t be around much longer. The future of the association rests with you."

Devon''s grip tightened, his eyes unexpectedly misty, "With Ms. Mirabe''s

    medicine, you''ll pull through."

David smiled softly, saying nothing more.

Meanwhile, Mirabe headed straight to her apartment.

Once home, she pulled out her phone. David had already sent her Paul''s number,

and she dialed it right away.

As she thought, the call went straight to voicemail.

After hanging up, Mirabe mulled things over before switching her phone to<pputer mode.
