Chapter 1368

If the satellite signal link was cut, that would exin why her message couldn''t get through. But, usually, they wouldn''t shut down the satellite signal, not even when she messed with her family''swork back in the day.

Mirabe spent ages trying to figure it out, but eventually, she just shut herptop down, hoping nothing was seriously wrong. With a soft sigh, she lowered hershes, sat quietly for a bit, and then got up, heading to the wardrobe for a fresh set of pajamas before heading into the bathroom.

The next day, Mirabe went to school to cancel her sick leave. Since she had sses in the morning, she skipped theb. Lisa had alsoe back to school a few days earlier. When Mirabe firstid eyes on her, she almost didn''t recognize her. "You look..."

The once plump and adorable girl was now as thin as a rail, her face pale, her lips colorless, and she looked utterly drained of energy.

Lisa slouched over her desk, managing a faint smile, "I guess I lost weight without spending a dime!"

Mirabe''s lips twitched slightly, and she shook her head, reaching out to gently hold Lisa''s wrist. "Losing weight like this, aren''t your parents freaking out?"

Lisa let Mirabe hold her wrist, a fleeting sadness crossing her eyes. "They''re too busy to worry about me right now."

In truth, her coldness about her brother Emmitt''s situation had left her parents deeply disappointed, making them feel shecked any family loyalty.

Mirabe frowned slightly and let go of Lisa''s hand, looking at her friend''s somber state. She asked, "Have you seen a doctor?"

"No, I''m not a fan of hospitals." Seeing doctors in white coats always reminded her of Ben, and that conditioned fear kept Lisa away.

"Are you taking any meds?" Mirabe asked again.

"Yeah, I am. My cold''s actually a lot better, so don''t stress about it." Lisa replied, thinking Mirabe was just being caring.

Mirabe nodded, her eyes narrowing a bit. "Still, you should get checked out at the hospital."

"It''s all good, a couple more days on meds and I''ll be fine." Lisa smiled.

    Seeing Lisa''s resolve, Mirabe

didn''t push it further. "Mind if I hang in your dorm around noon?" She

paused, offering a casual excuse, "I need a ce to study."

Knowing Mirabe didn''t live on campus and was quite far from school, Lisa didn''t think much of it and readily agreed.

At lunchtime, after a quick meal at

the cafeteria, they headed back to the dorm. The other roommates

were there, and they felt a bit

    awkward seeing Mirabe. No one

    really said anything.

Mirabe acted like they weren''t even there, following Lisa to her bed and sitting down.

Lisa fetched a bottle of water for Mirabe, stifling a few coughs, and reminded herself she hadn''t taken her meds yet. She went to her bed and grabbed a box of medicine from a small bag hanging nearby.

As she was about to take two pills, Mirabe nced over, stood up, and identally bumped Lisa''s hand, causing the pills to tumble to the floor.

"Oops, sorry about that," Mirabe said, bending down to pick them up.

Lisa just shook her head, unfazed. "No worries."

Mirabe fiddled with the white pills, "Sorry, they got a bit dirty."

"It''s cool, I''ve got plenty more," Lisa assured, showing her the medicine box before taking out another two pills.
