Minutes after trying to resend the message, Mirabe still got the same
notification-it didn''t go through. With a light tap on her phone, she decided not to bother sending any more messages. She wasn''t too worried; Morgan might be straightforward, but he had a knack for staying out of trouble.
James, who was driving, nced over at Mirabe, noticing she was lost in thought. "Still worried about Mr. Boyd''s health?" he asked, breaking the silence.
Mirabe snapped back to reality at the sound of his voice. Putting her phone away, she shook her head. "Everyone has their time," she replied, a touch of resignation in her voice.
"We do what we can," James said, his tone reassuring.
"Yeah." Mirabe nodded, her eyes drifting to the scenery outside the car window. Suddenly, something crossed her mind. She took off the ne she was wearing, "Didn''t you say you wanted to borrow this the other day?"
James nced over, noting that she was looking much better. He reached out, took the ne, and slipped it into his pocket. "I''ll give it back once I''m done."
"Alright." Mirabe replied simply, not questioning his need for the ne.
James didn''t offer any exnation but asked, "Where to now?"
Mirabe checked the time on her watch. "Just take me to the hospital."
James nodded, about to say something when his phone buzzed. It was Curtis calling. He picked up the Bluetooth headset, put it on, and answered the call. Curtis''s voice came through clearly.
"We''ve got news on Trevor."
James''s expression shifted slightly. "Really? Where is he?"
Curtis mentioned a spot in the south, a remote mountain area. "The signal''s terrible. We only picked up a faint distress call, and now we''ve lost contact."
James kept his eyes on the road, "Keep looking. I''ll join you soon."
After ending the call, Mirabe suggested, "If you''re busy, just drop me off here. I can grab a cab to the hospital."
James didn''t slow down, "It''s no trouble."
Seeing his resolve, Mirabe didn''t argue further.
A few minutester, James dropped her off at the hospital and drove away without going inside.
When he returned to the Shepherd estate, Curtis and Wyatt were already waiting for him.
"The helicopter ready?" James asked, his dark coat giving him a serious air, sleeves rolled up to reveal his slender wrists.
"All set. We can leave whenever you''re ready," Curtis replied respectfully.
James nodded, "Keep this under wraps. Don''t mention anything to Emily and Donald yet."
"Got it,” Curtis and Wyatt both agreed.

James shifted his gaze from the window, acknowledging with a nod.
"There''s something odd though. That ce isn''t on any map. It''s marked as an undeveloped forest, and the helicopter might get lost," Wyatt added, a hint of concern in his voice.
