Aftering back from Jorburgh, Celeste had two days off.
She had a full day of rest.
On the morning of the second day, just after finishing breakfast,
her phone rang.
It was a call from Trevor. 2
Celeste nced at the screen before picking up. "What is it?” 1
"Grandma was discharged from the hospital two days ago. She
wants to invite you over to Fleming Manor for a meal." *
Celeste was aware of Martha''s discharge. At that time, though,
she had been away on a business trip in Jorburgh and couldn''t
personally go to pick her up from the hospital. 1
"Got it," Celeste replied. +
Just as she was about to hang up, Trevor added, "I''ll go pick you

About half an hourter, Trevor and Jordyn arrived at the
Rodriguez residence.
The rest of the Rodriguez family wasn''t home. When Jordyn saw
Celeste, she happily jumped out of the car, ran over, and hugged
her. "Mom!" 3
From the driver''s seat, Trevor lowered the window and turned his
head to look at them.
Once inside the car, Jordyn clung to Celeste, chattering about
the fun things she''d done the past few days, and mentioning that
the gift she bought was already at the Fleming Manor. 1
While Celeste was talking with Jordyn, Trevor focused only on
driving. When Jordyn had neatly finished her stories, he nced
back at Celeste and asked, "You''ve been resting these past two
days?” ?
"Yes," she answered.
There wasn''t much else to say between them. So, Trevor didn''t
initiate any more conversation with her along the way.
Martha had always been especially fond of Celeste. When she
saw here to Fleming Manor, she was overjoyed
Seeing how much better Martha looked, Celeste also felt
Trevor was quite busy—while Celeste kept Marthapany and
chatted with her, his phone hardly stopped ringing. 2
After lunch, Celeste had originally nned to stay a bit longer
before heading home in the afternoon. But outside, a heavy
downpour started and didn''t let up for quite a while.
Since Martha had only just recovered and was still weak, she
went upstairs for her afternoon nap
Trevor then said to Celeste, "If you''re tired, go upstairs and rest a
bit too.”
Before she could answer, Jordyn tugged on her hand and pulled

standing at the doorway, saw her rifling through Jordyn''s closet.

With that, he gently closed the door for them and walked away.
It had been a long time since Celeste hadst stayed at Fleming
Manor. She thought she wouldn''t be able to fall asleep, yet not
long after lying down beside Jordyn, she drifted off without
realizing.
When she woke up, perhaps from sleeping too long, her temples
ached slightly. Jordyn was no longer in the room. 2
After washing up, she went downstairs, but didn''t see Martha or
Jordyn—only Trevor was sitting in the living room, reading. 3
When he noticed hering down, he closed the book in his
