Wynn didn’t look too well.
Lilian guessed that aside from being shaken by <b>Celeste’s </b>dazzling performance today, something else must have happened.
She asked, “At theunch event, how <b>did </b>Trevor act toward Celeste?”
Wynn lowered her eyes. “He admired her<b>.</b>”
Lilian’s expression gradually darkened.
In the past<b>, </b><b>Trevor </b>had always ignored Celeste. In his eyes, she was worthless. He had never once shown any admiration for her. (3)
But now-
“The technology Celeste talked about at the event–do you think it really came from her?”
Though she hadn’t interacted with Trevor much, from what her daughter had said, she knew that he understood technology himself and had always held deep respect for technical experts.
So, if Celeste truly had that kind of ability, it wouldn’t be surprising for Trevor to change his stance and start admiring her.
Before Wynn could respond, Linda blurted out, “Of course, it’s not hers! She’s just an undergrad–how could she have that kind of capability? It must be Matthias-” (7
But before she could finish, Wynn said, “It probably is hers.<b>” </b>
Linda’s eyes widened in shock. “How is that possible? How could she-?” 2
But the fact was, Celeste had skipped three grades and entered university early–at Aurelia University, the top–ranked university in the country.
Although Linda herself had also skipped grades and gone to a well–known university, it still wasn’t on par with Aurelia University. 2
In other words<b>, </b>Celeste had the foundation for academic research if she had wanted to pursue it.
So, even if it was hard to admit, Wynn couldn’t deny the possibility that both Celeste’s paper and the technologies she presented today might really be her own work. 4
Lilian had thought of this too.
Back then, Celeste’s outstanding academic performance had actually put a lot of pressure on Wynn.
Clenching her hands, Wynn asked, “If it wasn’t her work, would she dare to im it so publicly?” (2
Linda disagreed. “She’s <b>so </b>shameless<b>! </b>Why wouldn’t she dare <b>to </b>do that?”
Lilian and Wynn chose to ignore her.
Wynn pursed her lips and said, “I just don’t understand…”
Even though <b>Celeste </b>had skipped grades to enter university<b>, </b>she didn’t achieve anything particrly notable during her time at university. 7 After graduating with her bachelor’s<b>, </b>she got married and had Jordyn, andter joined the Fleming Group.
In that situation, how could she still possess such extensive research expertise?

Even though Trevor had seemed calm after theunch event and <b>treated </b>her as kindly as <b>always</b><b>, </b>could he really be as unaffected by <b>Celeste </b>as he appeared?
She couldn’t help but think of how<b>, </b>not long ago<b>, </b>Trevor had gone out <b>of </b><b>his </b>way <b>to </b>collect the research <b>papers </b><b>Celeste </b>had rmended while giving technical lectures <b>to </b>Fleming Group’s engineers<b>. </b>5
That thought felt like <b>a </b>thorn in her throat.
If he truly was <b>as </b>calm as he seemed, then why had he not once mentioned anything about theunch event after it ended?
