A momentter, Trevor answered the call. “School’s out?”
“Yes,”
Trevor then asked, “Missing Mom?”
“Yes”
“You didn’t call her?”
Trevor chuckled and said, “Go ahead and call her. She should have time to answer today.”
Jordyn’s eyes lit up. “Really?”
“Really. Call her.”
“Okay!”
After hanging up, Jordyn quickly dialed Celeste.
When Celeste saw the caller ID, she paused for a moment.
Although she had seen Jordyn twice recently–once when Martha fell down the stairs and was hospitalized, and another time at the Yoder family’s house–those encounters didn’t count toward their usual once–a–month meetings.
Aside from those two incidents, it had actually been over a month since theyst met.
Thinking of this, she answered the call. “Jo, are you out of school-”
Before she could finish, Jordyn, thrilled that she had actually answered, excitedly called out, “Mom!”
Her voice was filled with joy.
Celeste froze, her hand gripping the mouse stopping in ce,
It took her two seconds to snap out of it before she softly responded, “Mm, I’m here. Are you out of school?”
“Yes!” Jordyn replied happily. “Mom, where are you? I wanted to call you earlier, but I was worried you wouldn’t.
have time to answer.
“But just now, I called Dad, and he said you’d definitely be able to pick up today. So, are youring home?”
She paused briefly before continuing, “I’m still at work right now. Later, I’ll be going to your Granny’s house. Do you want to go there, or
“I’ll go wherever you go!”
”
“Alright.” After a brief pause, Celeste added, “Then you can go to Granny’s house first. I will go over once I’m done with work.”
“Okay!”
After ending the call, Celeste wrapped up her work and left her office.
Before Celeste even stepped inside the Rodriguez residence Jordynard the sound of a car arriving,
She immediately ran out, throwing herself into her mom’s arms. “Mom!”
“Mm.” Celeste picked her up..
Seeing her return, Betty similed and said, “Cel, you’re back perfect timing, dinner is ready. Come in and eat.”
“Okay.”
Jordyn sat beside Celeste for dinner.
It had been a long time since she had eaten her mother’s cooking So, she couldn’t help but say, “Mom, you haven’t cooked for me in so long! Can you make me dinner tomorrow?
“I really miss your food.”
Ever since she decided to divorce Trevor, she really hadn’t cooked much for Jordyn. And whenever Jordyn visited the Rodriguez family, Celeste had been too busy to cook for her.
Thinking about this, she agreed. “Okay.“–
Most of their social circle didn’t pay much attention to Wynn’s affairs. So, her close bond with Jordyn never reached Betty or Ivan’s ears.
However, even before Jordyn returned to the country, the two elders had anticipated that she might grow close to Wynn.
Naturally, they weren’t happy about it.
But they also knew that Jordyn was still young and didn’t understand the grudges between the Rodriguez family and the Locket family.
So, she wasn’t to me.
Since Celeste had failed to secure custody, Betty and Ivan were worried that prolonged separation would drive a wedge between mother and daughter.
Now, seeing how attached Jordyn was to Celeste, they were more than happy.
