"Of course," Aurora said. "No matter what, Star is my sister, a member of the Williams family. She deserves to have what''s hers."
Foreman sneered inwardly. With Leonard''s shares in hand, Aurora naturally wouldn''t care about the portion Ste held herself. After all, obtaining Leonard''s shares was equivalent to seizing control of the Lerman family.
Aurora didn''t have many cards to y. Even if she got Ste''s personal shares, she would still have to contend with Jonathan Williams. It was far more strategic to secure Leonard''s portion first.
"Mr. Richards," Aurora added, "my sources tell me that if Star renounces her inheritance, Leonard''s shares will be held in trust for her for five years. So, rather than having her sign a renunciation agreement, it would be better to have her sign a transfer agreement."
Foreman said coolly, "The transfer of Leonard''s shares is still being processed; Star hasn''t even fully taken possession of them. A stock transfer isn''t as simple as a grocery run; you can''t just hand them over on a whim."
Aurora chuckled softly. "You don''t need to worry about that. I have my methods. All Mr. Richards needs to do is follow my instructions."
"Got it," Foreman said before hanging up.
He checked the time and decided to head to the funeral site to see the situation for himself. After such a major incident, he had to make an appearance. Until he knew Joshua''s condition, he couldn''t afford to leave any loose ends.
With that in mind, he drove to the scene.
At the funeral site, charred bodies were being carried out one by one. The scene was utterly horrific.
Foreman saw a disheveled Haynes on the phone, confirming something. When Haynes hung up, Foreman walked over, feigning ignorance.
"Haynes, I heard there was a fire at the funeral. What happened?"
Haynes nced at him and said tly, "The specifics are still under investigation, but we''ve already confirmed it was arson."
Foreman''s heart leaped in rm. They already knew it was arson?
But his face showed nothing. "Are Keen and Callie okay?"
"They''re fine," Haynes said. "It''s just... Star....." His expression grew solemn, his thin lips pressing into a hard line.
Foreman pressed urgently, "What about Star?"
"It''s suspected that Star burned to death."
Foreman''s body swayed, and he staggered back several steps, his face pale with disbelief.
"Haynes, what... what did you say?
Star burned to death?" He shook his
head repeatedly, looking like he
ave
couldn''t ept it. No, that''s impossible! How could Star die in a fire?!"
As if struck by a thought, he grabbed Haynes''s arm forcefully. "Where''s Joshua? Wasn''t he always by her side, protecting her? How could an ident like this happen?"
"Joshua went to save Keen," Haynes replied.
Foreman was about to say more when he noticed that while Haynes looked grim he was stift rtively calm not at all like a man who had just lost the woman he loved.
A shadow passed through Foreman''s eyes. "Haynes, you don''t seem... sad at all."
"I just feel that there''s something strange about this whole situation," Haynes said. "What''s strange?" Foreman asked.
But Haynes sidestepped the question. "Do you know how Joshua is doing right now?"
"He... did something happen to him, too?"
"There are a lot of inconsistencies
lot of
and things that don''t add up, but they need to be carefully
investigated and analyzed. Joshua is currently unconscious. It seems he suffered an extreme shock and will likely have a hard time staying calm. I suspect this fire was a conspiracy aimed specifically at him."
Foreman feigned confusion. "Aimed at Joshua? What for?"
Haynes gave him a long, deep look. "Someone found his weakness."
