Foreman looked at Ste, his tone sincere.
"How could apulsive liar like him offer help without an ulterior motive? He''s definitely setting up another trap for us."
He paused, his gaze darkening as he looked at Abby. "If he teams up with Sellers Burton, Ste will be in danger."
Abby was fiercely protective of her friends. Hearing Foreman''s words, she immediately bristled.
"What nonsense are you spouting, Foreman? If Joshua wanted to harm Ste, why wait until now? Wouldn''t it have been easier when she first returned to the Williams family and hadn''t found her footing yet?"
As if recalling something, Abby''s tone turned sarcastic. "Back then, it was Joshua who invested fifty billion to help Ste acquire shares in the Pearce Group. I remember Mr. Richards''spany was under attack by Leonard Lerman at the time, and Ste invested the remaining money into yourpany to help you stabilize things. You benefited from his generosity, Mr. Richards. I''m not saying you have to be eternally grateful, but you shouldn''t take advantage of someone and then turn around and bad-mouth them. And another thing... that fifty billion wasn''t your investment. Why didn''t you rify that and let us misunderstand?"
Foreman stood frozen, momentarily speechless.
After a long pause, he finally said, "I admit, I can''t stand Joshua. Andst time, I did have my own selfish motives. But I can swear that I have never done anything to harm Ste..."
Abby cut him off impatiently. "In that case, stay out of Ste and Joshua''s business Joshua is willing to help her. Isn''t that a good thing? Ste is surrounded by enemies-the Burton family, Leonard, even her own rtives. She has no foundation here How do you expect her to secure her position in the Williams Group? Even if she''s capable, she needs an opportunity to prove it.
"Forget outsiders; the Williams family alone will do everything they can to hold her back. You''re sessful because you have your family to back you up, but does Ste? Do you think this world runs on ability? It runs on connections and pedigree. Amomperson versus someone with a powerful, family behind them-who do you think seeds faster? Do I even need to spell it out for you?
"Why do you think Aurora Williams cultivates rtionships with so many men? They''re herwork, her backup n, her safety. Even if she fails, she can just marry into some powerful family and live a life of luxury. You want Ste to fight this battle alone? Have you lost your mind?"
Foreman''s face flushed red, then turned pale as Abby tore into him. He retorted defensively, "Anything Joshua can do for Ste, I can do too. If Ste needs anything..."
Abby cut him off again, this time without ceremony. "Don''t tter yourself. Let''s not even talk about anything else. Just look at the way Joshua is burning through cash to cripple the Burton Group. Could you do that? I doubt you and Haynes could pull that off even if you pooled all your resources."
Foreman was silenced. He knew he couldn''t.
If this financial assault couldpletely destroy the Burton Group, it might be worth
it. But the Burton Group was a top-tier dynasty; they couldn''t be toppled so easily. Even if Joshua was the richest man in the world, he couldn''t achieve it in such a short time.
He had beenying the groundwork against the Burton Group for six months. But even with his nning and willingness to burn money, he couldOnly cause temporary turmoil, not shake their foundations. Otherwise the Gardner family could have just used their fortune to bankrupt every other family and rule the world alone.
