The thought that she had once entrusted Aurora with her deepest secrets, with everything, only to have it all turned into weapons against her and Joshua-it made Simone want to tear her apart with her own hands.
She asked anxiously, "Brother, what do we do? Do you think Aurora will use Rachel to hurt Joshua?"
Leonard scoffed. "Use Rachel against Joshua? You''re giving Rachel far too much credit. If she were capable of hurting Joshua, would she have ended up in her current predicament? If Joshua truly saw her as a threat, would he have let her live this long? He doesn''t even consider her a danger."
While not brilliant, Simone wasn''t entirely clueless.
"Rachel might not be able to hurt Joshua directly," Simone reasoned, "but... she can drive a wedge between Joshua and Ste, right?"
"Correct," Leonard said. "That''s the primary reason they took her."
Hearing this, Simone felt a small sense of satisfaction. She despised both Ste and Aurora, so the thought of Ste suffering brought her a sliver offort.
Simone sneered, "Without Joshua''s help, Ste would have been devoured by the Williams family, not even bones left. Take away Joshua, and Ste is nothing!"
This time, Leonard remained silent for a long while. Simone found it strange and looked over at him. He had a pensive expression, deep in thought.
"Brother, what is it? Did you think of something else?" Simone asked.
Leonard met her gaze. "If even you can figure out that Rachel could threaten his rtionship with Ste, why couldn''t Joshua?"
Leonard''s question caught Simone off guard. "Maybe... maybe Joshua just didn''t get around to dealing with Rachel yet? Besides, dealing with a snake like her personally would just dirty his hands."
Apart from taking out her anger on Rachel, Simone had never seriously considered, killing her. Whenever Rachel''s injuries became severe, she would even call a doctor to treat her. She didn''t want Rachel to die so quickly; she wasn''t done tormenting her yet.
"If Joshua was the type to leave loose ends, he never would have be the head
of his family," Leonard stated. "The only other possibility is... Rachel is also part of his n."
Simone was confused again. "Brother, what do you mean?"
Leonard''s gaze drifted in the direction of Ste''s office.
"Look, Joshua is sharp, maybe too sharp. He knows the Gardner family''s curse and everything that happened with Ste are impossible to ovee. I don''t think he ever nned on sticking with her for good. Deep down, he gets that lies don''t stay buried forever And hepestly, it''s no secret to any of us that he was the one who helped Rachel."
"But if Joshua wanted to keep it hidden, with his resources, he could have erased all
the evidence and traces, couldn''t he?" Simone argued.
Leonard shot her a look. "And then what? Weave countless more lies to cover up the first one? Do you think Joshua has that much free time? He has to protect Ste, formte ns to eliminate rivals like us, manage his ownpany and family affairs and still spare the energy to deal with gutter rats like Rachel and Foreman."
