Chapter 1544

Sellers'' expression remained calm. He finally spoke. "This has nothing to do with Aurora. The reason I angered the head of the Gardner family is because of

someone else from the Williams family."

Confused murmurs filled the room. "Who are you talking about, Sellers?"

Sellers opened his mouth and enunciated each syble clearly.

    "Ste."

The name was one the Burton family knew all too well. Old Mr. Burton was exceptionally fond of her, even publicly supporting her. He treated her better than his own grandchildren, handing over the Burton family''s most critical core assets to her without a second thought. It was a decision that had bred considerable resentment among many in the family.

Someone asked, "What does the Gardner patriarch have to do with Ste? The two of them move inpletely different circles. They have no connection, do they?"

Sellers said grimly, "Who says they have no connection? ording to my investigation, Ste is the woman he can''t forget. The Gardners are notoriously obsessive when ites to matters of the heart. For Ste to turn him against us would take nothing more than a word."

Another person grew more confused. "But Ste and Old Mr. Burton are so close. Why would she want to harm the Burton family?"

Sellers let out a coldugh. "Because her greed knows no bounds. Once she got her hands on our core assets, she understood just how valuable they are and what they represent. Ste managed to return to the Williams family and is now in a position of power there, which proves she''s ruthlessly ambitious. Now that she has the head of the Gardner family wrapped around her finger, she''s naturally going to use him to achieve her goals."

His words caused the expressions around the room to shift.

"Are you suggesting... she''s trying to take over our family?!"

"The nerve of that woman! How vicious!"

"After everything the old man did for her, not only is she ungrateful, but she harbors such treacherous ambitions!"

With just a few sentences, Sellers had masterfully shifted the me from Aurora to Ste.

"With Ste poisoning the well, the chances of us reconciling with the Gardner family are slim," Sellers added.

Someone suggested, "We should bring the old man here and make him see how he let a wolf into our home."

Sellers shook his head. "You all know what he''s like. The day he stepped down, he said that once thepany was in our hands, he wouldn''t lift a finger to help, even if it went bankrupt."

A heavy silence fell over the room.

Old Mr. Burton had indeed said those words. He was an entric man, and it was a promise he was more than capable of keeping. After founding The Burton Group, he had grown to despise the intricate web of interests and obligations. He was Fan excellent doctor but a poor manager. His decisions were often based on personal whims, frequently meeting with unanimous opposition from the board. Eventually, tired of the constraints, Old Mr. Burton resigned, left the family estate, and opened a small clinic.

Sellers'' second brother asked, "So what do you propose we do now?"

Sellers replied, "The Gardner family may be willing to burn cash, but The Burton Group is not somepany they can topple so easily. In the medical field, we are irreceable t doesn''t matter how much money he throws at us. I''ve already devised a n to counter him. For now, we just need to be patient and willing to absorb some losses..."

Sellers scanned the faces of everyone in the room, his expression one ofplete confidence.

"We might even be able to turn the tables and acquire the Gardner family ourselves."

The members of the Burton family exchanged nces, their eyes gleaming with a knowing, unsettling light.

    Sellers was Old Mr. Burton''s

    old Mr.

youngest son, and his rise to the head of the family was a testament to his capabilities. While there were power struggles within the Burton family, a strict family rule forbade siblings from harming one another. The most capable rose to the top, and with Old Mr. Burton''s swift abdication of power, the family was, for the most part, unusually united.
