Sellers had been willing to stand by Aurora when her reputation was on the line, but he would never extend the same courtesy to Israel. Unlike Leonard, Sellers was pragmatic. While he might make sacrifices for the woman he loved, his goodwill had its limits. His affection extended only as far as his own interests—strictly within reason, and only as long as it didn''t cost him much.
With Aurora, he might have stretched a little further. But everyone else? They simply weren''t worth that kind of investment.
Ste knew that after this incident, Israel was no longer a significant threat.
"Although Israel still holds shares in The Williams Group, he has no real power within thepany anymore," Joshua added.
"Does that mean his shares could be acquired at the right time?" Ste asked.
Joshua nodded. "They could, but I would advise against you being the one to acquire them."
While Ste was nowpetent at handling herpany''s daily operations, she was still learning the intricacies of corporate warfare. Joshua was her best teacher.
"Joshua,e in and let''s talk," Ste said, inviting him into her apartment where they could speak more freely.
Joshua epted and followed her inside. Ste made him a cup of tea and sat down across from him.
He took a sip before continuing, "The Williams siblings are all fiercely ambitious. They may not be at each other''s throats for the position of heir, but Israel''s shares will be a prime target. Coleman can''t inherit The Williams Group, so he''ll want to be thergest shareholder. And Aurora''s ambitions are in to see. It''s better to use this to shatter their fragile alliance and let them fracture from within."
The Williams Group was a corporate titan, and the three brothers had dedicated their lives to it. Israel, despite his impulsive and
hot-tempered nature, was a capable businessman. Jonathan and Coleman were even more
calcting. As for Aurora, she was a master at leveraging connections and resources. The fact that she had managed to secure a position at The Williams Group despite the shareholders'' opposition was a testament to her capabilities. And overseeing it all was the old fox, Skyler Williams. Taking back thepany would not be easy.
It had taken Joshua and Leonard years to secure their positions in their own family. To seize control of The Williams Group, which was still firmly in Skyler''s grasp, in such a
short time was an almoe
impossible task, even for someone like Joshua.
He made it sound simple, but Ste knew that driving a wedge between the three siblings would be incredibly difficult.
As if reading her thoughts, Joshua said, "Don''t worry, Star. I''ll help you figure it out."
Ste looked up. He was watching her, his handsome features as familiar and reassuring as always. A bittersweet feeling washed over her.
"Joshua, you''ve already helped me so much."
"That''s because you trust me," he said with a small smile. "It''s only by your side that I can be of the most value."
Suddenly, Ste felt a surge of curiosity about his past. "Have you... done this kind of work before?"
"Yes," he said quietly. "But I was never granted the kind of trust you''ve shown me. Some things are impossible to achieve without absolute faith."
"To be honest," Ste confessed, "I didn''tpletely trust you at first, either. But back then, I was justà violinist. I didn''t really have
worth scheming for." Coything
Sheughed, a wave of nostalgia washing over her. The memory of that time felt surprisingly distant.
