Lately, every time Simone went to see Leonard, she found him at hisputer, emailing Summer.
Leonard refreshed his inbox a few times. Seeing no new messages, he slowly turned to Simone.
"What? Dating someone online?"
Simone said, "Leonard, you seem to be in touch with Summer a lot recently."
"We haven''t spoken in three days," Leonard said tly.
"Then what are you doing sitting at theputer?" Simone asked.
"Waiting for Summer to reply."
Simone paused. "Didn''t you just say you haven''t spoken in three days?"
Leonard said, "Yes. Summer hasn''t replied to my message."
Simone was speechless. So, when Leonard said ''three days,'' he meant it was a one-sided silence from the other person''s end.
After a moment of exasperation, she finally asked, "Leonard, what''s going on with you and Aurora?"
"It''s over between us," Leonard said.
Simone froze for a couple of seconds before her expression hardened.
"Over? Are the Williamses that desperate to cut ties with us now?"
Simone had always known what kind of person Aurora was, so this didn''t surprise her. She said coldly "If the Williams family wants to be ruthless, then they can''t me us for being merciless you''ve given them so many benefits over the years, and now you were even willing to give Aurora shares to marry her. We''ve done more than enough for them. If they''re still going to be this ungrateful, then they shouldn''t me us for whates next!"
Although Leonard''s situation wasn''t great, he was still the head of the Lerman family. And she had been Aurora''s best friend for years. Dealing with Aurora would be child''s y if nothing else, ruining her reputation was something Simone could definitely achieve.
Leonard no longer wanted to hear anything about Aurora. He said indifferently, "No.
I gave Aurora three percent of thepany''s shares to draw a line between us."
Simone couldn''t believe her ears. "Leonard, what did you just say? You gave Aurora three percent of the shares just to cut ties with her?!"
"That''s right," Leonard stated calmly.
Simone''s emotions suddenly erupted.
"Leonard, how could you be so foolish?! Can''t you see that Aurora was desperate to get rid of us now that we''re in a tough spot? Even if you hadn''t given her the shares, she would have cut ties with us anyway!"
She was Leonard''s own sister and only held five percent of the shares. Aurora had.contributed nothing, had been leeching off the Lerman family for years and now she got to walk away with three percent of thepany for free? Was there a better deal in the world? Aurora was probablyughing in her sleep.
Simone''s gaze fell on the painting of the figure on the wall.
"Leonard, are you that in love with Aurora? Even after she abandoned you when you needed someone the most, you can still treat her like a goddess and spend your days reminiscing?"
Leonard''s gaze alsonded on the painting before him.
He said gravely, "The person in this painting might not be Aurora."
Simone scoffed, "Leonard, stop being stubborn. If it wasn''t Aurora, would you have spent so much money to buy this painting?"
"Even if this painting wasn''t of a person''s back, I would have bought it at any cost," Leonard said. "I admire Summers'' work. It has nothing to do with Aurora. She and I have no rtionship anymore, so don''t bring her up again."
Simone found the whole thing absurd and ridiculous. She had once thought that after everything Leonard had done for Aurora, he might resort to extreme measures if he couldn''t have her.
