Before, she had always been dismissive of Leonard''s devotion.
But now, with the tables turned and someone else as the object of affection, Aurora tasted the bitter sting of injustice for the first time.
She hadn''t done anything, so why was Joshua humiliating her like this?
However, after saying his piece, Joshua ignored herpletely. He nced at his watch, then began scanning the surroundings.
Five or six minutester, a car pulled up beside him, and Ste Cameron stepped out. Her expression was tense, her eyes filled with unconcealed worry.
"Joshua, what happened? A car ident?"
The moment he saw her, a light flickered in Joshua''s eyes. "The brakes were a bit sluggish," he said. "I didn''t react in time, and... well, this happened."
Ste''s gaze shifted to Aurora, who was standing nearby. "Ms. Williams, are you alright?"
Before Aurora could answer, Joshua jumped in. "We weren''t in the same car. She''s fine."
Joshua didn''t appear seriously injured, but the crash had left him with scrapes on his arm and cheek.
"Let''s get you to a hospital for a check-up," Ste insisted. "We need to make sure there are no internal injuries."
The man who had been so arrogant and defiant in front of Aurora instantly transformed into a gentle, almost boyish figure. "Star, I''m sorry. I''ve caused you trouble again."
"It''s fine. Your health is what''s important. Come on, I''ll take you to the hospital."
Aurora watched the entire exchange, a storm ofplex emotions brewing inside her. As Ste was about to get into her car, she noticed Aurora watching them. Her eyes then fell on the mangled wreck of the Dawnlight nearby, and she flinched.
She walked over to Aurora. "I''m sorry your car was wrecked. Whatever repairs, materials, orpensation are needed, just send the details to me. I''ll do everything I can to make it right."
Ste knew that something as
meaningful as the Dawnlight, much
like her own Nocturne Ste, was
irreceable But whe
iel
couldn''t
trulypensate for the loss, She
could at least show she was willing to take responsibility.
Aurora remained impassive. "Fine. I understand."
Soon after, Ste''s car disappeared from view, with Joshua in the passenger seat.

The doctor gave Joshua a full examination. Aside from some superficial cuts and bruises, there were no serious internal injuries.
Ste breathed a small sigh of relief
as she stepped out of the doctor''s

office. Joshua was still in the treatment room getting his wounds dressed As she was about to Head over, she passed by a hospital room and stopped dead in her tracks.
She saw Leonard.
It had been a long time since she hadst seen him, not since Aurora had been kidnapped. Back then, he had been confident and full of vigor. Now, after such a short time, he looked utterly defeated.
As if sensing her presence, Leonard''s head snapped up, his eyes locking on the doorway. "Aurora, you''re finally here..."
His words trailed off as he saw Ste.
"It''s you." His expression cooled. "Are you here to gloat?"
Ste remained at the door. "I have better things to do than waste my time visiting people I despise."
Leonard''s gaze fell to the stack of medical reports in her hand. A cold, unreadable smile touched his lips. "Ms Cameron you certainly treat your bodyguard well, personally escorting him for a check-up."
