Chapter 1095

But Foreman knew Ste well enough.

He could tell that, at least for now, Ste had no romantic feelings for Joshua.

Joshua''s bluntness, however, left Foreman feeling a little embarrassed.

Sensing the awkwardness, Ste quickly stepped in to smooth things over.

"Why don''t you let Joshua check the changing room first? If everything''s fine, he can just wait for me downstairs."

Haynes spoke up, "I''lle along with you."

His work kept him busy, so he rarely had time to be by Ste''s side. He was curious to see for himself how Joshua usually protected her. Was Joshua truly watching over Ste-or was he just using the excuse of protecting her to get close to her?

Since it made no real difference whether one or two people went along, Ste didn''t object.

The attendant just stared at them, bewildered.

Ste was just going to change clothes-did all three men really need to tag along?

Joshua noticed her hesitation and reminded her, "Weren''t you going to show us to the changing room? Are you just going to stand there?"

Snapping out of her daze, the attendant forced a smile. "Of course, right this way."

The four of them made their way to the dressing room door.

Joshua turned to the attendant and said, "You can go now."

She didn''t argue, simply turned and left briskly.

Ste knocked on the door, then opened it after making sure the room was empty. They all filed inside.

Joshua carefully inspected every corner of the changing room, checking the closet and even looking under the bed.

When he was done, he nodded to Ste. "It''s safe."

Foreman, trying to sound casual, chuckled. "Aren''t you being a little paranoid, Joshua? Star''s the heiress of the Williams family now-who''d darey a finger on her?"

Joshua shot him a cold nce. "Leonard didn''t care about Star''s status when he kidnapped her. Call me paranoid if you want, but I''d rather be overcautious than stand by and watch her get hurt while pretending to protect her.”

Joshua''s words hit Foreman right where it hurt; Foreman''s fists clenched reflexively.

Ste stepped in at just the right moment. "I''m going to change now. You can all wait for me downstairs."

Joshua was adamant. "No need. I''ll wait right outside the door."

With that, he was the first to leave the room.

Haynes gave Ste a lingering look before following him out.

Foreman didn''t nce at Ste at all; with his gaze lowered, he left as well.

Once the room was empty, Ste rubbed her tired brow.

Joshua certainly had a talent for putting people in their ce, but sometimes he was just too blunt.

Outside the room, Joshua noticed Haynes and Foreman had no intention of leaving, so he unceremoniously told them to go.

"I''m Star''s bodyguard. It''s my job to stand guard here. Neither of you are that close to her-so it''s better if you leave now. There''s enough gossip swirling around the party as it is, don''t make things worse for Star''s reputation."  s

Foreman couldn''t help butugh. "Make her reputation worse? Of everyone here, Joshua, aren''t the biggest threat to her good name Have you any idea how many people out there are specting about your rtionship with Star? Some even say you''re hee kept man! you''re really looking out for her, you should be the one keeping your distance."  s

Joshua gave a cryptic little smile. "People with dirty minds see everything through a filthy lens. If those people didn''t make up nasty
