Chapter 231

Mr. Burton cast a knowing nce at Haynes, a sly smile ying on his lips.

"Oh, you''re here to get some medicine for that young girl, aren''t you?"

Jasper blinked in surprise. "Didn''t you say you couldn''t tell if Rachel was unwell?"

Mr. Burton chuckled, "True, I didn''t see it. I guessed."

    Jasper was left speechless.

This old man had a sharp tongue, just like Ste!

Haynes, who had heard from Jasper about the old man''s entric nature, didn''t take Mr. Burton''s teasing to heart. Instead, he locked eyes with Mr. Burton, his voice steady and serious.

"So, how much time can you buy her?"

Mr. Burton nced at Rachel once more. His eyes, though cloudy with age, were piercing like a hawk''s, making Rachel feel exposed and vulnerable, as if he could see right through her.

He quickly averted his gaze and confidently dered, "I can cure her."

Both Haynes and Jasper were taken aback. Curing a terminal illness was no small feat.

They had scoured the globe for renowned doctors, all of whom were powerless against Rachel''s condition. They weren''t asking for a miracle, just a little more time for Rachel.

And here was this old man, iming he could cure her. Was he genuinely confident, or just arrogant?

Haynes'' eyes were as sharp as a knife''s edge. "You haven''t even examined her or reviewed her medical records, and you say you can cure her?"

Mr. Burton didn''t flinch. "Why else do people call me the miracle worker?"

Haynes stared at him intently. "Mr. Burton, are you sure?"

Jasper red at Mr. Burton, issuing a warning of his own. "Old man, if you''re lying

to us, don''t expect a dime, and we''ll make sure your reputation is in tatters."

Mr. Burton turned to Jasper, "Were any of the symptoms I mentioned wrong?" Jasper was at a loss for words.

Mr. Burton adopted the air of a sage, "Those whoe to me should know, I don''t always take money for my services. As for you two, I won''t charge money."

Jasper was puzzled, "If not money, then what do you want?"

Mr. Burton smirked enigmatically, "I want..."

Ste couldn''t reach Haynes by phone but soon received a call from Mr. Burton. "Hey youngdy, the clinic''s been a madhousetely. We''re short on hands. If you''re not busy,e give us a hand tomorrow."

Ste hesitated for a moment, not immediately agreeing.

Mr. Burton sounded a bit miffed, "What? Now that you don''t need my remedies, you won''t budge?"

"No, it''s not that," Ste quickly exined. "I mentioned before that I''m looking after a kid. It''s school holiday week, and his dad''s on a long business trip."

Mr. Burton''s tone softened, "Is it the kid you said wanted to perform with you?" "Yes."

Mr. Burton replied, "No problem, just bring him along."

Ste agreed readily, "Alright, I''ll be there tomorrow."

Mr. Burton rarely called to ask for her help, so he must really be in a bind this time.

Later that night, Ste told Marvin about it, and he was thrilled.

"Is it the grandpa who taught you how to make herbal remedies? I want to learn too! That way, if you ever get sick, I can make them for you!"

Ste reminded him, "Marvin, we''re going there to work, not y. Helping out can be tough."

Marvin''s eyes sparkled with excitement, "As long as I get to be with you, Ste, I don''t mind the work."
