Chapter 860

Elodie had thought it would take her a while to adjust, but it wasn''t as difficult as she had imagined.

Jarrod didn''tsh out at her. He was calmer than she expected. She had thought he would despise the Harcourt family and her.

But the days since their wedding had been peaceful.

More importantly, Jarrod seemed to be quite a homebody.

    He came home every day.

Instead of going to his study, he would sit in the living room and work. She couldn''t understand it. Did Jarrod have that much work? Why not finish it at the office instead of bringing it home?

As a result, whenever she came out of her bedroom-whether to get water, water the nts, or do any small task-she would always see him.

Elodie couldn''t help but feel a little curious about her new husband.

She finished pouring a ss of water and was about to head back to her room.

"Going to bed?" Jarrod suddenly nced at her.

    Elodie nodded.

Jarrod''s expression remained neutral, but inside, he felt that his wife was being too distant.

He had been making himself conspicuous for days, yet she showed no intention of trying to connect with him.

He tilted his chin towards her. "Can we talk?"

Elodie''s nerves tensed for a moment.

She was afraid he was about to bring up divorce.

Ma Harcourt hadn''t given her a clear answer yet. If she was "kicked out" this soon, Ma would surely go back on his promise.

She clutched her water ss and walked over.

As she approached, the man on the sofa held out his hand, offering her a ck card.

    Elodie looked at him, confused.

He met her gaze calmly. "The renovation for our marital home will cost a lot. If you have a particr style in mind, you can discuss it with the designer yourself. Use only the best materials for everything."

Elodie was taken aback. "So you''re not talking about a divorce?"

Jarrod''s eyelid twitched. For a moment, he couldn''t hold back. "In your dreams, Elodie."

He had barely warmed up his marriage certificate.

    Divorce?

    Not in this lifetime.

    Elodie was left speechless.

Jarrod stood up and pressed the

card into her hand. "I have no

    son''t

opinions on the renovation. It''s your home our home Decorate it ording to your taste. Keep this card and use it. Buy whatever you

    want."  ne

He couldn''t bear to see her living so frugally, not treating herself well.

Under the guise of renovation, he was giving her the card so she would have more than enough funds. She could buy a few private inds if she wanted.

    Elodie was speechless.

Before she could ask anything else, Jarrod, not wanting her to refuse, walked past her and into the bedroom on the right.

Elodie was sure it wasn''t a dream.

She suddenly thought that Jarrod''s temper wasn''t so bad after all.

Especially his words, "your home," "our home." They had unexpectedly struck a chord deep within her.

Elodie hadn''t taken it too seriously at first.

But soon after, a renowned design team from Eldermere contacted her to discuss her ideas.

Only then did Elodie realize he was serious.

Her heart settled in her chest.

During this time, Jarrod brought a portion of his work home with him.

He could see Elodie''s caution and timidity in her interactions with him. She had just graduated andcked social experience. Furthermore, he was aware that afterpleting some of her previous work, there was likely a required quiet period due to confidentiality agreements. For at least the next six months to a year, she would be temporarily barred from working in a rted

    field.

He made a decision: Elodie would join The Silverstein Group and work under his

    watch.

A year would be enough to give her experience.

Elodie had actually been prepared to

be a good wife and mother. Having married Jarrod, she felt indebted to him and didn''t want him to think that she and the Harcourt family were using his power At the very least, she wanted to take care of him to alleviate some of her guilt.

But she agreed to Jarrod''s arrangement.

She reasoned that a man of Jarrod''s status wouldn''t want an unremarkable wife.

She needed to achieve something to prove herself to him.

Her marriage to Jarrod was not made public. She knew that for him, it was likely a source of shame. So, before starting her new job, she took off the wedding ring and ced it in a safe.
