Sandra thought she must have misheard him. "You''re saying Jessica has liver cancer? Since when?"
"About five months now," Timothy replied, his voice heavy.
Sandra nearly staggered. “This happened five months ago? Why haven''t you said a word about it until now? Don''t tell me you only just found out.”
“That''s right.” He didn''t try to hide it; it was the truth.
Sandra couldn''t help but scold him. "No wonder she wanted a divorce! How could you not know something as huge as her having cancer!"
"Grandma, you can tell me more when I get back. We''re in a hurry."
"Which hospital is she in? I''ll go with you. I need to see her. This is so worrying."
"She''s in intensive care. You can''t see her right now. We''ll talk after the surgery. have to go."
Sandra looked at She, her heart full of gratitude. “She, thank you for being willing to do this for Jessica."
"Mom, Timothy said it''s urgent. We should go," She said, avoiding Sandra''s gaze. She hadn''t done it out of goodwill but had demanded a condition from Timothy. Sandra didn''t know that yet, and She would let Timothy deal with the falloutter.
Having just gotten off a long flight, Timothy hadn''t had time to adjust to the time difference. By the time he drove She to the facility, it was already past midnight. Herbert and Vince were shocked to see him arrive with She so quickly.
Timothy saw Herbert and said urgently, "Can we do her pre-op tests now?"
He wanted Jessica to have the surgery as soon as possible. He couldn''t stand to see her so weak and in pain.
“Mr. Lawson, the tests are best done in the morning on an empty stomach. This isn''t the right time. Besides, a donor needs to be well-rested before the procedure. Let''s get Miss Howard admitted for the night, and you should get some rest too."
"Mr. Wheeler, please arrange a room for Miss Howard."
Though anxious, Timothy had to follow Herbert''s instructions.
"Miss Howard, pleasee with me," Herbert said.
She followed him without asking any questions. She had made her deal with Timothy; now, all she had to do was follow Herbert''s instructions and prepare for the surgery.
Vince said to Timothy, "I''m staying at a hotel nearby. I''ll get a room for you. Go get some rest."
"I want to see her first." Now that he was here, he had to see her before he could leave.
Timothy walked toward Jessica''s
room. At this hour, she was sound asleep. This was the only time he dared to see her. If she were awake, he wouldn''t have the courage to face her
He didn''t stay long. Before leaving, he gently kissed her forehead.
He and Vince left together. Once they were in the car, Vince asked, "What did you promise She?" He knew she wouldn''t havee so quickly without a price.
"To marry her."
Vince''s brow furrowed. So after everything, Timothy was still going to marry She. Thest time, he had been willing. This time he was being forced Vince fera pang of sadness; he had never expected things to end up this way.
"Timothy, will you regret this?"
"No."
Nothing was more important than Jessica''s life.
"You''re really going to marry her?"
"Is there any other way?" Timothy''s voice was filled with a helplessness Vince had never heard before. In the past, there was nothing Timothy? couldnt achieve if he set his mind to But now, with Jessica determined to leave him, he had finally encountered something he couldn''t control and couldn''t ept.
