Chapter 170

She abruptly stood up, determined to find Timothy.

Something about what Yates had just said made her suspect it involved Timothy and Jessica.

"She, what are you doing?" Kane rose to his feet as well, following her.

"I''m going to look for Timothy. He and Jessica have been fightingtely, and I''m worried they''ll get into another argument."

Kane waved her off. "Don''t overthink it. That woman barely matters to Timothy. Honestly, who argues with someone they actually care about? There''s no need."

"Still, I should check on them. Jessica, she..." She hesitated, the rest of her sentence dying on her lips.

Neither Kane nor Yates had ever met Jessica; in fact, they didn''t even know her name. And She certainly couldn''t mention that Jessica was mute-if Timothy found out she''d revealed that, it would only upset him.

"What''s wrong with her, anyway?" Kane sounded puzzled.

She nced at Yates, then lowered her voice. "Yates, Jessica''s... different. A ce like the Red House isn''t right for her. I know this is your ce-could you help look for her? If something happened to her here, it would be a disaster."

Kane rolled his eyes, clearly unimpressed. "She, you''re way too kind. That woman stole your Timothy, and you''re still worried about her? If she saw you here, I doubt she''d be thrilled."

"Kane, can we not get into that? Finding Jessica is what matters. You know as well as I do, there''s nothing between me and Timothy. Let''s focus."

Kane just shrugged and jerked his chin at Yates. "Come on, Yates. Let''s look for her."

Yates finally set down his ss, slowly.

The three of them headed toward the VIP suites.

No sooner had they stepped out of the lounge than they saw Secretary Allen standing with Timothy.

"Mr. Lawson, I just spoke to Manager ck. We checked the security cameras- Mrs. Lawson went into suite V888."

Timothy immediately started toward the hallway.

    "Timothy!" She called after him.

He turned, spotting the three of them. Secretary Allen stepped aside.

She hurried up to Timothy, her face tight with concern. "Is something wrong with Jessica?"

But Timothy''s gaze slid past her, settling on Yates. "Who''s in V888?"

Yates had just gotten the answer from Manager ck via text: apparently, Timothy''s secretary had been looking for Mrs. Lawson, checked the cameras, and saw she''d entered suite V888.

"Vince," Yates replied. "He''s back in town for his sister and told me he''d swing by after meeting someone. Wait-was he meeting your wife?"

Kane frowned, confused. "Neither of us has ever met Timothy''s wife. How would Vince even know her?"

Yates just shrugged. He had no idea.

Timothy himself barely knew his own wife; what chance did any of them have?

Timothy''s handsome face looked distant, almost cold, his eyes shadowed with something unspoken. None of them could quite tell what he was thinking.

He spoke quietly, his tone unreadable. "Since Vince is supposed toe find uster, we might as well go to him now."

He turned and strode off, his tall figure cutting a sharp silhouette down the hallway.

Kane sidled up to Yates, lowering his voice as they walked. "This could get interesting."

Yates shot him a look. "Didn''t you just say Timothy doesn''t care about his so- called wife? What''s supposed to get interesting?"

"Whether he cares or not is one thing. But his wife meeting up with Vince, and him not knowing about it? That''s something else—especially with her still carrying the Lawson name. And don''t forget, things are a little tense between Timothy and Vince."

Yates pped Kane on the shoulder, grinning. "The Zimmerman family is looking for someone, and Vince came to me today for help, hoping to get Timothy involved. Whatever issues there were between them, I''ll bet Vince already has a n to smooth things over. This could turn into a firestorm, or maybe it''ll fizzle out -it all depends..."
