Chapter 894

She didn''t even let him finish. "Get better? Dn,e on. I know exactly what you''re doing. The moment you said that to me, I guessed you''d start punishing yourself. I was right, wasn''t I? You really think if you don''t get better, this marriage will just drag on forever?"

Hisshes flickered, and his face lost what little color it had left.

ra walked over to the dresser. Last time, she''d turned the whole bedroom upside down-she knew exactly where the marriage certificates were.

He must have realized what she was about to do, because suddenly he reached out and grabbed the hem of her shirt.

She didn''t stop. She opened the drawer.

There they were: two little red booklets, impossible to miss. She picked them up and looked straight at him.

His fingers were still clinging to her shirt, his eyes empty. "ra, please... I''m begging you..."

Her grip tightened on the marriage certificates so hard, she was close to crushing them.

She looked away, refusing to meet his eyes. "Let''s go. Your wheelchair''s still here. You can make it to the registry office. There''s been so much gossip about you in the Capitaltely. You''ve always been the golden boy-did everything for Ferguson Corporation. I know you can''t stand people talking about you or looking down on you."

Her voice was calm, almost detached. "You''ll still be the CEO of Ferguson Corporation. Those people running their mouths? They''re just clowns. They can''t touch you. The ones who were scared of you before will keep being scared."

She nced down at the two red booklets, her lips curling into a small, cold smile. "As for us-let''s just call it a mistake."

He finally let go of her shirt and went quiet.

ra''s chest ached, but she forced herself to hold it together. "I''ll get someone to bring your wheelchair."

She turned to leave, head down, but then she heard his voice behind her. "Who cares."

She stopped, caught off guard by those words.

She turned and saw him staring out the window his face so pale it was almost translucent. "Who cares what they say? As long as I''m with you-even if have to beg, even if everyone looks down on meel''d still be happy."  s

Her heart twisted painfully, her grip on the marriage certificates warping the

    covers.

She took a shaky breath, pushing away her doubts. "If you really loved me, you wouldn''t have hurt Z. You wouldn''t have kept so many things from me. Dn, I don''t get your idea of love. It''s too selfish."

"Love is supposed to be selfish!"

He actually argued back, but then dropped his eyes.

Love is selfish, always. If it isn''t, then anyone could take your ce.

ra gave a cold, quietugh. Her eyes were calm and distant. “You seem pretty energetic now. I don''t want to fight with you anymore The fact that I haven''t hit you is me holding back. You owe Z-deal with it yourself."  s

She turned and walked out. In the hallway, a few housekeepers were waiting anxiously. Not knowing what had just happened, one of them stepped forward, hopeful. "Maam, How did it go? Is Mr. Ferguson willing to eat something?"  s

ra swallowed hard, her voice rough. "Where''s his old wheelchair?"

Their eyes lit up instantly—he was finally willing to get out of bed.

"That''s great news! I know where it is—I''ll bring it right away!"

ra stayed where she was, and soon she heard the sound of wheels approaching.

But before the wheelchair even made it to the bedroom, she heard footsteps inside.

Dn was already at the door. He was fully dressed in a crisp new suit. Even though his face was pale, he still looked devastatingly handsome.

ra looked away. "If you''re not going to use the wheelchair, are you sure you can make it all the way to the registry office?"<fnaec2> Checktest chapters at f?i?n?d?n?o?v?e?l?</fnaec2>
