Chapter 887

His voice was rough, tinged with a vulnerability he almost never showed. There was a plea buried in there.

ra kept her eyes fixed ahead, her tone steady and unyielding. "There''s nothing left for us to talk about. We don''t belong in the same world."

Thatst part seemed to trigger something in him. She''d said those exact words before they weren''t from the same world. That''s how she''d always kept her distance, always refused to let him get close. And now, even after everything, she was still saying it.

He just stood there, silent. The little bit of color that had warmed his face faded fast, leaving him so pale it looked like he might pass out right there.

Jackson stepped forward, grabbing his arm. "Dn, you need to get some rest. Come on."

Dn nced at ra, his lips twitching like he wanted to say something. One hand pressed carefully against his side.

ra took a breath, her voice calm. "While you''re still with it, let''s go. We need to get the divorce papers at Palm Bay. If we wait any longer, the office might close."

"ra!" Jackson snapped, his eyes shing. There was a hard edge in his voice

    now.

Dn''s whole body went rigid. Sweat stood out on his forehead, and for a second, the whole world seemed to tilt.

"Dn!" Jackson caught him just in time, panic in his voice.

Dn didn''t fully pass out, but he was shaking, his skin slick with sweat. He gave a weak shake of his head.

ra finally spared him a nce, then looked away almost immediately. "Fine. You can stay here. I''ll go to Palm Bay and get the papers myself."

Jackson clenched his jaw. "ra, are you even human? He''s about to copse, and you still want to drag him off to get divorced? Is your heart made of stone?"

ra didn''t say anything. She just stood there, silent and cold.

Dn''s fingers tightened, then loosened, over and over. Finally, it was like he gave in.

"I don''t feel well right now. When I''m better, we''ll go. Okay?"

Thosest words were so soft, so tentative, it was almost painful to hear.

ra didn''t look back. She just got in her car. "Alright. Mr. Dn, when you''re feeling better, let me know. I''m free anytime."

With that, she started the engine and drove away.

As her car disappeared, Dn finally lost his grip. He crumpled, eyes rolling back, and Jackson nearly dropped him in surprise.

"Dn!" He rushed him to the hospital, his mind racing. Only then did he realize how bad it was—the bandages were soaked through with blood, bright and rming.

The doctor worked quickly, face pale as he re-dressed the wound. "This was a deep out. You need to be extra careful-don''t get it wet and watch for infection. If it gets worse, it could be life-threatening.  s

Jackson could barely speak. He just nodded, trying to remember every word.

Once the new bandages were on, Jackson sat at Dn''s bedside, staring at the blood-stained gauze, frustration simmering.

"What''s really going on with you and ra?"

Dn just looked down, his face ghost-white, sweat still clinging to his brow and nose. He didn''t answer.

Jackson sighed. He felt sorry for him he could never be as cold as ra.

Dn slowly shook his head, lips pressed tight. He wasn''t going to say a word.

    Jackson stood up. "Aiden''s almost

out of the hospital. I''ll ask him toe and look after you tomorrow. 1 trust him with you. As for you and

ravel talkter. Your leg sa mess, all those stitches, and you still chased after her today? Are you trying to kill yourself?"  s

Dn just closed his eyes, silent.<fn06f5> Fresh chapters posted on fι?dnοvel</fn06f5>

Jackson gave up. Sometimes, Dn drove him crazy.

On his way out, Jackson called Richard.

"Colin, do you have any idea what''s going on with those two? Dn''s running himself into the ground for re, and she wants a divorce. If they really split, do you think he''ll make it?"  s

On the other line, Richard took his time lighting a cigarette, something unreadable

in his eyes as he flicked the lighter in his hand.

Jackson couldn''t hide his frustration. "If you know something, just say it. Watching this mess is exhausting."

Richard exhaled a slow stream of smoke. "I don''t know anything. If they''re not in love anymore, just get divorced. What else is there? All this love drama―l never understood it anyway."
