?Chapter 1446:
His stare didn’t waver. “Think about how he treated you. His words. His tone. He rejected you, and you walked away. Now he calls, and youe running? What does that make you look like?”
“That was before—” Jessica tried to exin.
“I don’t care when it was,” Jacob interrupted, his voice dropping into a calm that stung. “He dismissed your feelings without blinking. Even if he thought it was for your sake, it wasn’t his call to make. You deserved more than that.”
Jessica’s mouth parted, but no words came. Her grip on the suitcase loosened as she stood there, blinking back the realization sinking in.
“But I already said yes…” she murmured, her heart still caught in the echo of Melvin’s voice.
Jacob’s gaze flicked to the suitcase on the bed. “Then say no. You’re allowed to change your mind. That’s what it means to take control.”
She hesitated. “But…” A part of her hated the idea of standing Melvin up.
“No buts,” Jacob’s tone mmed the door shut. He wasn’t the type to care about many people, but Jessica was the rare exception. He wanted her grounded—especially in rtionships. He’d seen what happened when people lost themselves in them. It never ended well.
“Melvin is Freya’s right-hand man. If you don’t trust him, can’t you at least trust her judgment?” Jessica countered, desperate to justify her choice.
“If this were anyone else, maybe I’d listen to you. But he’s… different.” When it came to love, Melvin was naive and gullible. He simply did everything she asked, noints.
Jacob’s reply came blunt, unmoved. “Work and rtionships aren’t the same. Freya trusts him with deals—not emotions.”
Jessica looked down, lips tightening. She didn’t know what to say. She didn’t even know what she wanted to feel.
At that moment, Lawrence wandered in, hands in his pockets, eyebrows raised at the thick tension in the room. “What’s wrong?”
“She’s going to see her crush,” Jacob said tly, like he was reading a bad forecast.

“Then let her.” Lawrence shrugged, unsurprised.
Jacob turned to him slowly, his eyes offering a silent threat. One wrong word and he’d be next.
Jessica lit up. “So you think I should go?”
“Why not? It’s just a meeting, not a wedding.” Lawrence waved it off. Then, noticing Jacob’s slow-burning re, he leaned in and nudged his arm. “Chill. Don’t re a hole through me.”
Jacob didn’t speak, but his silence said plenty.
“So why do you want to see him?” Lawrence asked, switching gears.<fnb7d8> Official source is Find~Novel</fnb7d8>
Jessica poured everything out.
When she finished, silence settled.
Then Lawrence tilted his head toward Jacob. “She’s already said yes. What now, ke on the guy? Doesn’t sit right.” He turned back to Jessica. “But listen… when you see him, don’ty all your cards on the table. Even if he says he wants to marry you and you’re melting inside—don’t give in too fast. Keep it cool.”
