?Chapter 1432:
“Do you still like him? Because if you do, I can help. I’m pretty good at this romance stuff,” Lawrence offered with a wink, slipping into the role of self-dered love guru. “Guaranteed results.”
Her gaze faltered, betraying something she didn’t say aloud. But she managed a soft smile.
“I’m doing fine on my own, Mr. Hayes.”
shing a smile, Lawrence said, “Just call me Lawrence.”
Jessica nodded. “Alright then.”
She then turned to her uncle. “Can I ask you something?”<fn56aa> ?????? ???? find{n}ovel</fn56aa>
“Go ahead,” Jacob replied without looking up.
“The thing between you and Lawrence…”
“There’s nothing between us,” Jacob cut in sharply. “We just knew each other back then.”
“Do you hold a grudge against him?” Jessica pressed, her tone steady.
“Not really.” His answer was short and clipped, like he was closing a door she kept nudging open.
“But if he’s nothing special to you, why treat him differently from everyone else?” Her voice softened, but the weight of the question sat heavy between them.
Lawrence’s gaze drifted to Jacob now, curiosity flickering behind his yful expression.
Jacob’s brow twitched. For once, those normally indifferent eyes nced at Lawrence. In that split second, something shifted.
Their eyes locked. The air seemed to hum with something unsaid, something too tangled to exin out loud.
“If he isn’t special, and if there’s no grudge, why not just let him stay?” Jessica suggested, adding a casual shrug, like it was no big deal. “Besides, I wouldn’t mind thepany. It’ll be nice to have someone around when I’m bored.”
Jacob’s expression flickered like a cracked mask, just for a moment.
Jessica saw her chance and pushed. “You don’t talk much, and I’m afraid if I’m alone, I’ll start overthinking everything again.”

“Overthinking what?” Jacob asked.
“Honestly?” She gave him a half-smile, but there was real weight behind it. “I came here to get a break. To clear my head. I told someone my feelings for him and got rejected.”
Her chest tightened as she said it, but she forced herself to keep going. No way was she going to let this turn into another pity party.
“So just let him stay. He’ll keep me distracted—and honestly, he’s good at making things less awkward.”
“You’re absolutely right!” Lawrence beamed, like someone had just dered him employee of the month.
Jacob’s sharp rended on him, and Lawrence’s grin evaporated.
“Why’d he reject you?” Jacob asked, his tone quieter now, edged with something Jessica couldn’t quite name.
“He told me outright he didn’t have feelings for me,” she answered honestly, her voice steady even though the memory still stung. “But I could tell he was lying. I even asked him why, but he wouldn’t say.”
