Chapter 1379

    ?Chapter 1379:

Jessica lunged for the phone, but she missed.

Two minutester, Jack gave Rnd a quick summary of the situation. Rnd said he’de right away.

Jack ended the call with a smug little grin. “Since you’re so confident about impressing her family, better start thinking about dinner ns. Nothing too cheap, obviously.”<fnf290> Get full chapters from findnovel</fnf290>

“That’s none of your concern,” Melvin replied smoothly.

Jessica felt a headacheing on. This whole thing was turning into a circus.

“Do you even know what Jessica’s family does?” Jack smirked, clearly not done causing trouble.

Melvin paused for a beat, his gaze drifting over to Jessica.

She had only ever mentioned in passing that her family was in business. As for what kind, he had never bothered to ask. Still, judging by her time abroad and the way she carried herself back when she was a student, her background was probably quite impressive.

“Why are you running your mouth so much?” Jessica snapped, her tone sharp with anxiety, worried Jack might identally spill something he shouldn’t.

“Her family owns a listedpany,” Jack blurted out, eyes narrowing as he tried to gauge Melvin’s reaction. “The Prescott Group belongs to them.”

Jessica panicked a little. “Melvin, don’t listen to him…”

For a moment, real fear flickered across her face. She was genuinely scared he might look at her differently—disappointed even.

She hadn’t exactly lied to him, but ultimately, she had withheld something important.

“The Prescott Group’s your family’s?” Melvin asked, a faint trace of surprise flickering across his usually calm expression.

Jessica’s eyes darted away, her voice faltering. “I can exin…”

    Melvin blinked slowly. “Exin what?”

“The job I told you about before—it wasn’t real. I’ve actually been working at my dad’spany since I came back,” Jessica admitted in a rush, not wanting him to misunderstand. “I quit because…” She had no idea how to put it into words.

Inside, she was spiraling. This had all happened so fast, she hadn’t even thought of a proper excuse yet.

“You don’t need to exin anything. I get it.” Melvin’s voice was calm, his eyes steady. That quiet reassurance hadn’t budged an inch.

Jessica stood there frozen, blinking. “What?”

“Your dad really is the CEO of the Prescott Group?”

    “Yeah…”

“Got it,” Melvin said simply, already storing that information away in his mind.

Jessica blinked at him, pletely thrown off. What did that even mean?

Melvin took her hand as they strolled toward the car. “I’ll treat your family to dinnerter. Where do you want to eat?”
