Chapter 1310

    ?Chapter 1310:

In less than half an hour, the whole group was talkingfortably.

Ellis seemedid-back, chatting like one of them. But anyone who knew him well would have caught on—this wasn’t just small talk. He was sizing them up, preparing himself for how to push themter on.

“It’s gettingte. Let’s go eat,” Ellis said after checking his watch. “After you eat, rest for an hour. Thene find me. I’ve arranged for someone to do aplete evaluation of your skills and strengths.”

    Everyone nodded withoutint.

In the cafeteria, the seven of them sat together at one table.

Greta leaned toward Freya and Riley, whispering with a grin, “Didn’t expect our instructor to have such a great personality. I’m half-tempted to chase after him myself.”

Freya and Riley nced at each other and stuffed their mouths with food, not saying a word.

“Why so quiet?” Greta asked dreamily, still caught up in Ellis’s charm.

“Did you already forget what Michael said when he left?” Freya might have thought Ellis was good-looking too, but she wasn’t about to let that distract her. “If Michael’s calling someone a hardass, he’s definitely not simple.”

    Riley nodded seriously. “Exactly.”

“Doesn’t matter,” Greta shrugged, unfazed. “As long as he’s nice on regr days, I don’t care if he trains me to the brink. I’ll deal.” She wasn’t scared of hard work. Training meant growth, and tough love wasn’t a deal-breaker.

Riley and Freya stayed quiet and kept eating.

After they finished their meal and got some rest, they made their way to the ce Ellis had mentioned—a sleek base stacked with high-tech equipment.

“Why do you think he called us here?”

“Didn’t he say it’s for an assessment of our skills?”

    “Looks kind of cool, though.”

They chatted casually as they walked.

Once they arrived, Ellis greeted the staff and turned to the group. “This afternoon, follow the schedule here. Once you’re done, the rest of the day is yours. Formal training begins tomorrow morning at 5:30 sharp.”

“Got it!” they responded in unison, all a little surprised. No training on the first day?

Once Ellis left, he headed back to his office.

Seeing him return, Michael nced up from his screen, surprised. “You’re back already?”

    “It’s done.”

“Weren’t you going to train them?”

    “Not today.”

Michael frowned, studying Ellis carefully. Something clearly didn’t add up.

    “You’re acting off.”

Ellis took a sip of water, his face calm and unreadable as ever.
