Chapter 1300

    Chapter 1300:

Just before colliding with him, she feinted and flung the dirt at his face, slipping past him in a sh.

Ellis caught the ruse. He turned his head, letting the dirt smack the back of it, and reached out to snag her as she tried to flee.

Freya reacted instantly, striking out without hesitation. He blocked her easily.

In mere seconds, they exchanged a rapid flurry of blows.

With a sharp, clean strike, Ellis sent her reeling again.

She raised both arms to defend, but the force shoved her several paces back. Just as Ellis assumed she wouldunch another charge, Freya—despite her pain—bolted for the edge of the forest, hitting her fastest speed yet.

The move caught him off guard. He watched her go, a flicker of something shifting in his gaze. He didn’t give chase. Instead, he turned and quietly climbed back into the tree he hade from.

Michael, who hadn’t been able to see what happened, called out, “You take her down?”

“She made it,” Ellis replied, still staring off in the direction Freya had disappeared.

    Michael blinked. “She beat you?”

“No,” Ellis replied in azy tone.

“Then how the hell did she pass?” Michael pressed, an idea dawning on him. “Don’t tell me you let her through because she’s cute?”

Ellis shot him a cold sideways nce, his expression saying more than words.

“So how did she make it?” Michael asked again, sobering up, knowing full well Ellis wasn’t the sentimental type.

Ellis tapped his index finger to his temple. “She used this.” Then he recounted the entire encounter to Michael.

By the end, Michael was stunned. “That girl’s something else—quick on her feet and sharper than most.”

She hadn’t wasted time. She had taken the hit and bolted instead of draining her energy fighting for ten whole minutes. That was smart.

“How much strength did you actually use against her?” he asked.

    “All of it.”

    “You serious?”

“I just wanted to test her. Her instincts were sharp,” Ellis said offhandedly, ncing at his watch and chuckling.

    “What’s wrong?” Michael asked.

“Take a look.” Ellis handed over the watch.

Michael looked down and saw cracks spidering across the surface of Ellis’s usually indestructible timepiece.

He looked from the shattered watch to Ellis, who had the faintest smirk on his lips, and hesitantly asked, “She did that?”

“Yeah.” Ellis didn’t even bother taking it off.

Michael shook his head slowly, disbelief written all over his face. What a tough girl.

“You keep watch here. I’ll head to the finish line,” Ellis said, descending the tree and tossing the words over his shoulder without looking back.
