?Chapter 1294:
Jesse paused. After giving it some thought, he decided to take him.
When Freya figured out what he was after, she whipped up a few challenges to test him—just to get a sense of where he stood.
Turns out, the kid was a prodigy.
Among all the people she’d mentored—Natasha, Frederick, Greta—Natasha had always been the standout.
But now, she realized Jerome was right up there with Jesse. If the two of them kept at it, bing the next guardians of cyberspace wasn’t just possible.<fnc8f4> Follow current nov?ls on find?novel</fnc8f4>
So she spent the whole afternoon teaching Jerome new hacking techniques.
Meanwhile, Jasper stayed focused, helping Nina with her homework.
Donna had to leave early—something came up with Kevin.
That left Ellis with nothing to do, since Jesse stuck close to Freya while she coached Jerome.
Ellis stood by the doorway and coughed.
Freya was too locked in to notice, but Jesse nced over.
Ellis gave him a look that said, “She’s been teaching for four hours straight—get her a ss of water.”
Jesse mouthed silently, “I already did.” Ellis had no words.
Having such a considerate son really left him with nothing to do.
“Take a break and continueter,” Ellis said, stepping behind Freya and cing his hand on her shoulder. “You’ve been sitting way too long. Your back’s going to hate you.”
As he spoke, he began to gently massage her shoulders.
Freya stiffened for a second.
Ellis leaned in just a bit, his voiceced with amusement. “What do you say?”
“Just another half hour,” Freya replied, not looking away. She could tell Jerome still wanted to learn, so she decided Ellis could wait. “Go check on the kids upstairs—see if they’re getting tired.”

“I’ll go,” Jesse chimed in.
The moment the words left his mouth, both Freya and Ellis turned to look at him.
They were clearly caught off guard by the offer.
Jesse didn’t bother exining. He just trotted upstairs.
He used to butt heads with Ellis, mostly because he never really understood the guy. He thought their dad just lived to mess with him and Nina—and tease their mom.
But after this summer, things were different. Now he understood. Their dad loved them just as much as their mom did.
And he loved their mom—deeply.
Upstairs in the study, Jesse found Nina frowning at a question like it had personally offended her. She scratched her head and said, a little sheepishly,
“Can you exin this one more time? I still don’t really get it.”
“It follows the same logic as the question above,” Jasper said patiently.
