Chapter 1280

    ?Chapter 1280:

    “You don’t want Jerome anymore?” Jesse asked.<fneef4> ???s ??????? ?s ?????? ?? find?novel</fneef4>

He thought she’d at least pause to think it over, but to his surprise, she barely hesitated before blurting, “Nope.”

“Why?” Jesse asked, genuinely interested for once.

“He asked me if I’de see him tomorrow,” Nina said, her voice touched with frustration. “I told him I’d y with Nick first, then see him once we got home. But then he said if I didn’te tomorrow, don’t bother finding him again.”

    Jesse raised a brow.

Nina huffed, “Whatever. I’ve got Nick anyway.”

That remark drew everyone’s attention to her.

“Your friendship with Jerome is that fragile?” Jesse asked, testing her logic.

“He threatened me first,” Nina said with perfect rity. “I told him I’m staying at Aunt Greta’s, and he still insisted I show up. That’s not fair.”

Her mom always said it was the quality of friends that mattered, not the quantity. Sure, she liked Jerome—he was cute. But that didn’t mean she had to stick around when he said hurtful things out of nowhere. She had other friends too.

“You sure you’re not going to talk to him again?” Jesse pressed, dead serious.

“Right now, yes,” Nina replied with a stubborn pout—though she left herself some wiggle room. “But maybe not forever.”

After all, it wasn’t easy to find someone as cute as Jerome. If he apologized properly, she’d be kind enough to forgive him.

Jesse understood right away—she was just having a small spat with Jerome.

Greta, clearly intrigued, tucked a strand of hair behind her ear and asked, “So, who exactly is this Jerome? He must be something special if she’s this torn up.”

“He’s really cute! Just like Jesse!” Nina beamed. “And he can cook too! He’s amazing!”

Hearing that, Greta and Jesse both looked stunned.

No doubt about it—she was already wrapped around Jerome’s little finger.

Since Nina still wanted to hang out with Nick next door, she and Jesse ended up staying a few more days at Greta’s.

Over the past few days, Jerome had only called Nina once—on the second day—just to see if she wanted to hang out with him.

As expected, Nina turned him down.

After that, neither of them had reached out again.

Nina, on the other hand, had been busy having fun with Nick and a bunch of other kids. They had such a st together that, when it was finally time to leave, Nina didn’t want to go.

“Jesse…” She looked wistfully at the kids heading home, her big eyes shimmering with hope. “Can I stay a few more days?”

Jesse didn’t try to change her mind. He simply asked, “What about your friends back home? Don’t you want to see them?”

“I do!” Nina answered right away.
