Chapter 1227

    ?Chapter 1227:

“Of course it should be skill. Using hacks is totally unfair,” Freya replied without hesitation.

“If you help Greta, you’re basically giving her cheat codes. You’d be throwing the fairness of her game with ke out the window.”

Freya thought about it. Something didn’t sit right, but she couldn’t quite put her finger on it.

“Of course, if you still want to help, I won’t stop you,” Ellis said casually, though his voice held weight. “But even if she wins, it won’t be a win she can be proud of.”

“Wait—no!” Freya snapped out of it all of a sudden.

Ellis raised an eyebrow, clearly waiting for her logic.

Freya looked serious, her voice firm as sheid it out. “Noel ke already sent someone after Greta. That’s already cheating.”

“He used his bodyguards. That’s just standard equipment—his default gear.”

Ellis continued weaving the tale without missing a beat. “But you? You’re a full-on hack.”

“You’re misleading me, aren’t you?” Freya narrowed her eyes at him, suspicious.

Ellis put on his most innocent face. “Would I go through all this trouble if I were just misleading you?”

Freya stared at him, saying nothing. It made a little too much sense. But she still wasn’t buying itpletely.

“Give me your phone. I’ll ask Greta myself,” she said, holding out her hand. No matter what, she trusted Greta.

This wasn’t some actual game. She had picked up those skills to protect herself and the people she cared about. And she wasn’t about to let that advantage go to waste now.

Ellis’s expression darkened, just slightly. He hadn’t expected her to catch on that fast. Clearly, the saying “pregnancy makes you stupid” didn’t apply to her. Freya might be slower physically these days, but her mind was still sharp.

    “Where’s my phone?” Freya asked.

Ellis fished the device out of his pocket and handed it to her.

At the same time, he quietly took out his own phone and made a call to Greta. To make sure Freya wouldn’t hear the ringtone, he turned the volume all the way down and slipped it neatly into his coat pocket.

Freya kept texting Greta, her fingers moving quickly over the phone.

Ellis felt a buzz in his pocket and knew the call had gone through. His heart gave a little jump.

Greta had just settled into a safe hiding spot when her phone rang. She frowned, confused. “Hello? What’s wrong?” she asked, her voice low.

She held the phone to her ear, waiting for a reply, but only silence greeted her. The line felt eerily still.

Right as she moved to end the call, Ellis’s voice broke through, soft and far away. “What’s Greta saying?” he asked.

“Still no reply,” Freya’s voice came, calm but hushed.

Their words were barely above a whisper, yet they hit Greta like a lightning bolt. In a sh, she realized this was no ident; it was a trap.
