Chapter 1222

    ?Chapter 1222:

“Shut up,” Lionel retorted, his tone sharp. In his view, Kristian had already been through enough. The least they could do was not make it harder. He truly felt for his grandson.

Isaac nced at Kristian, who remained unbothered on the surface.

“Everyone, step out,” Lionel said, motioning for privacy. “Kristian stays.”

The others exchanged looks but eventually left the room, giving them space.

Looking at Kristian, who’d clearly lost a great deal of weight, Lionel’s chest tightened. He couldn’t help but wonder—if he’d been harder on him back then, would things have turned out differently?

“I know you haven’t let go,” Lionel began, getting straight to the point. He wasn’t the only one. They all saw it too.

“Feelings don’t just disappear overnight,” Lionel continued, his voice gentler now, as if trying to reassure him. “I know what’s weighing on your mind. But as long as I’m around, no one can force you into marriage.”

Kristian’s gaze flickered. Truthfully, he wasn’t entirely sure if he had let go. But seeing Freya content with Ellis had brought him some peace.

    “Thank you,” Kristian murmured.

“If you really want to thank me, then live your life well,” Lionel urged. For once, he was open about his hopes for his grandson. “I don’t need anything big. I just want to see you happy.”

Kristian gave a small nod. “I will.”

They sat and talked for a long while, reminiscing and reflecting on what had passed—Freya’s arrival, and her quiet exit.

Atst, Lionel gave him one final piece of advice. “If you ever meet someone you truly care about, hold onto her. Don’t make mistakes you’ll regret, and don’t hurt her.”

    “I understand,” Kristian said softly.

“That’s all I needed to say,” Lionel finished. In most ways, he was satisfied with his grandson, though he wished he weren’t so lost when it came to love. “Go on, unpack your things.”

Kristian gave a quiet nod and left the room with his luggage.

Isaac and Melinda watched Kristian walk away, both wearing that quiet, conflicted look.

Liam noticed it and tried to ease the mood. “Hey, don’t stress too much. He’ll sort things out on his own.”

“Let’s hope so,” Melinda murmured, clearly still worried.

Isaac, on the other hand, stayed calm. Standing beside her, he spoke in a low, serious voice. “It’s not about whether he lets it go. It’s about whether he does something stupid again.”

Melinda turned to him. “What do you mean?” Even Liam raised an eyebrow, curious.

Isaac didn’t sugarcoat it. “He couldn’t have Freya. Who knows if he’ll end up spending his life chasing someone just like her?”

Melinda was at a loss for words. So was Liam.<fnd947> Th? link to the orig?n of this information r?sts ?n fινdnοvel</fnd947>

Liam was the first to speak, trying to defend him. “Kristian’s not that kind of guy.”
