?Chapter 1167:
Felipe blinked. This was unexpected. Since when had Kristian be so generous?
“But I want the ck one.”
“That one was bought with Freya. I can’t give it to you.” Kristian’s tone was t but firm.
Felipe considered pushing back, then thought better of it. He decided to let his friend be. There was no way Kristian could hold on like this forever.
“One more thing. The Shaw Group needs an heir,” Felipe said, his voice growing serious. “As president, there are responsibilities you can’t ignore.”
Staying single and childless was fine—for now. But not for long. Public scrutiny was ruthless.
Felipe had no doubt Kristian could weather it. But the people around him? Not so much.
Kristian’s lips pressed into a thin line as a heavy weight settled in his chest. His family would never force his hand—but the board of directors was another story.
“You might have a year or two, but after that, you should be ready,” Felipe said knowingly. “One day, someone’s going to sneak a woman into your hotel room.”
“Gerard will deal with it.” Kristian hadplete faith in him.
“He’s going to get married and start a family too,” Felipe countered, nudging him with purpose. “You can’t expect him to be at your beck and call forever.”
Kristian paused. He hadn’t thought about that before. Gerard had never said a word.
“After this, I hope you let her go.” Felipe’s voice softened. He patted Kristian’s shoulder, his eyes lingering on the other man’s still profile.
Telling him about Ellis’s proposal wasn’t just about keeping a promise. He wanted Kristian to move forward.
Watching the woman he loved say yes to someone else might make him let go. Felipe left around 11:30.
Kristian sat in his chair, the chaos inside him rising like a tide he couldn’t calm. Atst, he picked up his phone and sent Gerard a message. “Would you like to go on a blind date?”
Your imagination thrives at punt
Gerard, though from modest beginnings, had done well for himself. As Kristian’s assistant and thanks to his own hard work, he was now a millionaire with shares in a Shaw Group subsidiary.
He didn’t reply right away. Then Kristian sent another message. “I can arrange it for you.”
Gerard stared at the screen, pletely thrown off. Confusion knitted his brows as he tried to make sense of the messages. Where on earth was thising from? Had he done something wrong at worktely? He couldn’t think of anything.
While he was still puzzling over it, another message popped up. “If you already have someone you like, let me know. I’ll have HR hire two more assistants for me, so you can bnce work and your rtionship.”
Gerard’s nerves got the better of him. He couldn’t shake the fear that Kristian doubted his skills and was ready to bring in someone new to take his ce. Despite thete hour, he didn’t hesitate. He grabbed his phone and headed out to confront Kristian face-to-face.
