Chapter 1172

    ?Chapter 1172:

Norton’s hands slid to her face, cupping her cheeks with a tenderness that made her heart skip. He leaned in, his gaze locking with hers, serious and unyielding.

“If you want to go, go. But if anything feels like too much, youe to me. No ying the hero.”

She nodded, her lips parting in a soft smile.

    “I will. Promise.”

Excitement buzzed through her as she tucked herself into bed early that night.

Dawn painted the sky in hues of gold as Yvonne stepped into the crisp morning air, a bag of snacks for Margie swinging in her hand. She had not seen her friend in ages, and the thought of their reunion sparked a grin.

The office buzzed with familiar energy when she arrived. Heads turned, faces lit up, and a chorus of warm greetings enveloped her. Colleagues swarmed, their voices brimming with genuine concern as they peppered her with questions about her health.

Margie, predictably, stole the show. The moment her eyesnded on Yvonne, she sprang from her chair, nearly toppling it in her excitement.

“Yvonne! You’re back! How are you holding up?”

Laughing, Yvonne returned the embrace, then stepped back to address the crowd.

“I’m all patched up and ready to dive back in with you all.”

She pressed the bag of snacks into Margie’s hands, her smile widening at her friend’s delighted gasp.

Margie clutched the gift, her eyes twinkling as she leaned across her desk, her voice dropping to a conspiratorial whisper.

“You picked the perfect moment to waltz back in.”

Yvonne tilted her head slightly, puzzled by the remark Margie had just made.

With a small, knowing smile, Margie exined, “We’ve started a new project, and Mr. Griffin’s having a hard time choosing the right lead. No one seems to measure up. But now that you’re back, he finally has someone he can count on.”

Yvonne offered a quiet nod in response.

Before she could speak, Morse appeared, tapped the desk lightly, and shed a polite smile.

    “Yvonne,e with me a moment.”

Without waiting for a reply, Morse turned and walked away.

Margie shot her a wink, yful as ever. “Told you he’de find you.”

A softugh slipped from Yvonne’s lips as she rose to follow Morse’s retreating figure.

Inside the office, Morse had already taken his seat behind the desk. He studied Yvonne with a look of calm satisfaction.

    “How’s your recoverying along?”

    Gratitude welled in Yvonne’s expression.

“Thank you for asking. I’m feeling much better now.”

After exchanging a few pleasantries, Morse steered the conversation forward.

“I asked you here because I think this project suits you perfectly.”
