Chapter 1130

    ?Chapter 1130:

Yvonne followed without a word. She was unusually quiet, her energy spent.

He opened the car door for her, and she slipped inside, leaning back against the seat with a sigh.

Norton studied her profile, the fatigue etched across her features. Something was wrong. “Is work not going well?” he asked gently.

“It’s going well,” she answered, t and brief. Her tone was distant as she closed her eyes and massaged her temples repeatedly.

Norton’s gaze lingered on her, but he didn’t press further. He pulled out his phone and sent a message to Leif. “Look into what Yvonne has been busy withtely.”

Just like that, the rest of the ride was wrapped in silence.

When they got home, Yvonne all but copsed onto the couch. She tossed her purse aside without care. Norton picked it up, ced it neatly on the rack, and turned back—only to find her eyes already closed.

He called her name softly, “Yvonne? Yvonne?”

But she didn’t stir. He stood there for a long moment, watching her sleep. A mix of frustration, helplessness, and tenderness stirred within him. Was it really worth running herself into the ground like this? With a sigh, he stepped forward and gently gathered her into his arms.

Norton held Yvonne gently, careful not to wake her. His steps were steady and quiet as he carried her upstairs.

When they reached the bedroom, he slowlyid her down on the bed, treating her as if she might shatter if he moved too fast.

Half-asleep, Yvonne stirred. She must have sensed his presence because her fingers reached out and grabbed his sleeve.

    “Norton…” she murmured.

He had been about to pull the nket over her, but her grip stopped him.

Leaning closer, he heard her whisper his name. Lowering his head, he brushed a soft kiss across her forehead.

The moonlight spilled through the window, casting a calm, silvery glow over the room. He finally tucked her in, smoothing the nket around her before quietly slipping out.

The moment he stepped into his study, his phone buzzed. A message from Leif popped up.

“Looks like Mrs. Burke is just overworked. No other issues found.”

Still uneasy, Norton didn’t waste a second—he called Leif right away.

“Keep an eye on her,” he said firmly. “If anything seems off, I want to know immediately.”

He hung up, but the knot in his chest didn’t ease.

He knew Yvonne was tough. She always threw herself into work, never slowing down, never asking for help—even when she clearly needed it. He couldn’t force her to open up, but at the very least, he could keep an eye on her and ensure she was okay.

The next morning, Yvonne woke up and blinked at the ceiling. The memory of the night before drifted back—and this time, it didn’t feel like a dream. A small smile tugged at her lips. After freshening up, she headed downstairs.

“You’re up early,” Norton said, clearly in a better mood now that she looked well-rested.
