Everyone was still there, and he said it out loud right in front of Larissa.
Charity held her breath for a moment. Then, when she sensed Larissa''s weird gaze, she felt her face flush red.
''Was that man crazy?''
Larissa chuckled in secret. "It''s almost dark outside. Would you like to stay for dinner, Mr. Jewell? What do you like to eat? I''m cooking today."
"You must be a really good cook." Chester immediately ttered her. "When I was hospitalized, the soup you made was delicious. I''ve never had such a good chicken soup before."
"I used the chicken I brought from my hometown." Larissa stood up and said, “There''s still half a chicken left in the house. I can make it for you tonight since you like it."
"Mom, what are you doing? He lives right next door. He can go back if he wants to eat."
Charity could not stand Chester''s ttery.
She was aware of what he was trying to achieve by suddenly moving into the house next to hers without notice and saying that his heart was taken.
Chester blinked pitifully. "Forget it, Aunt Larissa. I''ll go back and eat on my own." "What meaning is there in eating alone?" Larissa had always thought that Chester''s parents were outrageous. Hence, upon finding out that he was still eating alone after bing disabled, she sympathized with him. "Since you brought bread over today, I can cook some chicken soup with croutons."
"Chicken soup with croutons?" Chester''s handsome face was filled with anticipation and surprise. "I''ve never had it before."
"I shall let you try it tonight."
Larissa rolled her sleeves up to begin her cooking preparations. "Eliza, please entertain our guest. Mr. Jewell is your lifesaver."
"Aunt Larissa, you don''t have to keep calling me Mr. Jewell. Just call me Chet," Chester said with a smile.
"Okay. I''ll call you Chet from now on."
Larissa started to feel closer to Chester. She also thought her daughter and Chester were a good match when they sat together. Therefore, she gave a hint to Aunty Queenie and Aunty Lorrie through her eyes when she left.
Considering both of them were smart people, they immediately gave an excuse that they were going to help out in the kitchen.
In an instant, only Charity, Chester, and Cal, who only knew how to cry andugh, were left in the living room.
"You eat alone, huh?" Charity faked a smile and raised her eyebrows. "You are quite skilled in ying mind games with my mom, Chet."
Chet...
Chester looked at the pretty woman, who looked like she was in her early twenties. Then, he thought about his age, and the corners of his mouth could not help but twitch. "Charity, I''m older than you."
"Oh, should I call you... Master Chet?" Charity teased.
Chester''s handsome expression froze for a second.
However, his heart softened when he saw Charity''s eyesughing.
"Charity, I haven''t seen you so rxed in front of me for a long time," Chester said softly. "Of course, not just in front of me. I feel like you''re different from before. You''re much more cheerful now."
Charity knew her change was pretty drastic too. She seemed to have found some joy in living.
She rolled her eyes at Chester. "I have to live well for Cal''s sake."
"Will bing a mom make you change so much?" Chester lowered his head and gazed at the tiny baby in his arms. Suddenly, he understood Charity''s feelings.
"Yes, and that''s why you should quickly find a woman to marry and have a child with," Charity said indifferently. "Then, it''ll stop you from mentioning that you eat alone to my mom. It''ll make her think you''re all alone, and you''ll keeping to my house to have meals."
