Larissa chatted with Mrs. Langston for a while before sending her off.


    After returning, she observed her daughter and said," Is Mrs. Langston... trying to hint at something?"


    "Isn''t that obvious? Even you sensed it." Charity smiled faintly.


    "Don''t me her." Larissa sighed. "If I were her, I might think the same too. Which parent doesn''t wish for their child to have a sessful career? Our neighbor says they have a good son and that he''ll surely be a high-ranking officer. During festivities, the city and district higher-ups would always visit Mrs. Langston''s home, and the Langston couple would smile from ear to ear whenever they mention Max." 1


    Charity found it funny. "I don''t me her. I understand."

    "If Max can meet a suitable girl, I''ll sincerely wish him happiness."


    Max had been treating her too well and helping her out a lot, so much that Charity felt guilty.


    She had thought about dating him properly after she recovered.


    However, after hearing from Mrs. Langston that Max had gone on a blind date, she felt relieved.


    "Do you really... have no feelings for Max?" Larissa probed.


    "Mom, Mrs. Langston is right. We''re from different worlds. I''m a public figure whom people will always talk about. If he marries me, he''ll be talked about as well, and it''ll affect his career development.


    Larissa nodded. "If so, we can''t waste Max''s time anymore to avoid Mrs. Langston having opinions about us. We''re neighbors, after all."


    In the evening, the results from every medical checkup came out showed that Charity''s body was fine, so she could be discharged.


    When Freya came over to help, Charity pointed at the items Mrs. Langston brought and exined the situation to her.


    "I can''t take them," Freya said quickly. "Ryan told me we can''t ept these things. People have gifted me more valuable things, but I never dare to touch them."


    Charity also guessed so, so she did not force Freya. "I''ll get Max to take them back afterward. This was his mom''s decision, and I don''t think he knows about it."


    "Exactly. Max and Ryan are friends. How could he possibly do this?" Freya frowned. "Isn''t his mom putting us in a difficult situation by doing this?"

We have different opinions. To be honest, I thought that you dating Max would be nice, but I don''t think you''ll be able to get along with his mom. It might''ve been fine for the real Eliza, but you''re not her."


    "His mom also hinted that she doesn''t wish for me to be with Max." Charity shrugged her shoulders. "I''ll just stick to being friends with him."


    "You really do move on quickly. It seems like you might not have any romantic feelings for Max, and it has nothing to do with your illness," Freya said.
