In the end, Rodney was the ipetent one.
He rubbed his temples.
A joke? It was always a joke.
From the start of the wedding preparations up to the moment before the ceremony, Sarah had been saying those two words.
When she was with Rodney before, did she not say that she did not care about anything else as long as she could be with him?
After that, Sarah said she wanted a wedding, and he agreed to it. Later, she said she felt inferior. She was afraid of being looked down on by other people during the wedding, so she wanted to have a grand wedding that would make people envious.
Rodney agreed to that as well.
Sarah said people usually picked up brides in a sedan, but she wanted to be special. As such, he picked her up in a helicopter.
Everything was of top quality. Although money was tight for Rodney, he had never refused Sarah.
Although he was busy, he had picked everything out personally. 1
Despite all that, Sarah still said she would be treated as a joke by others.
Were other people''s opinions that important?
She did not even know all the times Rodney got scolded by his family for holding the wedding.
Everyone knew that he owed Freya a wedding. Yet, he gave another woman a grand wedding after divorcing Freya. Wendy pointed at Rodney on the nose and said he was trampling on his ex-wife''s dignity.
Jason scolded him for not knowing to keep a low profile despite having an affair and that the skin on his face was even thicker than a wall. 2
Nathan said the whole world knew that Sarah was a homewrecker. The fact that Rodney was holding a luxurious wedding for a mistress would leave a bad impression on the citizens, so the Snow family would definitely not attend the wedding. Attending would be equivalent to them agreeing to such unhealthy social trends.
Nevertheless, Rodney did it regardless of the consequences.
Even so, Sarah was still unsatisfied.
Rodney was exhausted. He was so tired that he did not want to talk.
Sarah threw a tantrum for a while until she realized how bad Rodney''s expression looked. Her heart sank. She quickly squeezed a tear out and said weakly, "I''m sorry. My words were too much. I''m just afraid that you''ll be gossiped about. It''s all my fault. If you weren''t marrying me, the Snow family wouldn''t treat you so coldly."
"Alright. Stop overthinking. I don''t care about any of those." Rodney was tired. However, he still had to
force a smile to coax Sarah when he saw her crying. 2
He told himself repeatedly that it was what he owed her.
The wedding was very grand, but only a few guests were of prominent identities. None of Rodney''s close brothers were attending as well. Most of them were just fair-weather friends or senior managers and employees of thepany.
There was only a table of Sarah''s friends too. They were a few of her university friends from the past and some colleagues from her workce. In fact, they did not have a close rtionship, but Sarah still sent invitations to them because the more, the merrier.
Standing at the altar, Rodney nced at the guests below the stage. He felt sad and disappointed.
He had envisioned his wedding before. Just a few months ago, Freya was talking
to him about it excitedly. She would have Eliza be her bridesmaid, while Suzie and Lucas would be the flower girl and page boy.
Freya preferred an outdoor wedding.
At that time, Wendy had given them all sorts of ideas.
Rodney imagined that the venue would be filled with his family, rtives, and
friends on the day of his wedding.
After a few months, everything had changed.
The bride had be another woman.
