"Wesley!" Laura eximed in rm when she saw him coughing up blood.
She hurried to clean him up, but Natalie restrained her with a gentle grip.
"Laura, I''ll handle this," Natalie said, swiftly checking Wesley''s pulse.
She then used a silver needle to examine the blood he had spit out. Upon ensuring there was no issue with the blood, Natalie assisted him into the medical room with a grave look. "Connie, fetch my medical kit," she instructed.
"Yes, Ms. Walker," Connie said, swiftly turning to fetch the medical kit.
Natalie directed Wesley to sit on the chair and handed him a tissue. "Mr. Holden, clean up the blood," she instructed.
She continued. "Your anger has disrupted your heart, causing an unstable pulse and a chaotic flow of blood in your body. If you don''t manage your emotions, you might die before Laura even divorces you. In that case, Laura will end up a widow, almost like being divorced."
Natalie''s voice was icy, and her tone was indifferent. "Mr. Holden, to be frank, you''ve been quite the disappointment as a husband."
Wesley''s eyes were red from fatigue, but he was uninterested in others'' opinions. His only concern was the impending loss of his wife. "Natalie, you''re Marcus'' girlfriend, practically my future daughter-inw. Can''t you at least put in a good word for me?"
Wesley pleaded sadly, "I just want to hold onto my wife. Laura has endured so much hardship before. Now that life is finally improving and we can enjoy it, I don''t understand why she''s suddenly seeking a divorce."
"It''s actually pretty straightforward."
Initially, Natalie had no intention of interfering in others'' affairs, but if Wesley were to die at The Herbalist''s Sanctuary, it would reflect poorly on Federrick and wouldn''t bode well for her rtionship with Marcus.
"Mr. Holden, consider this scenario. Imagine Laura had a brother, whether older or younger, and he gave her a drug. While she was under the influence of this drug, she vanished from your sight, and you had no clue about her situation.
"Her brother harbored a strange, twisted, and sinister affection for her. You suffered torment and muttion at the hands of her brother, and for over 20 years, you''ve been unable to lead a normal life.
"Even stepping outside to enjoy the sun has be a rare privilege. After enduring all of this, could you still sustain your love for her, unchanged, day after day for decades, and continue to live a happy life with her?
"Mr. Holden, offeringfort isn''t my strong suit. I rmend you try to see things from her perspective. You love Laura, and she loves you as well. However, considering everything that''s transpired between you both.
"Do you believe love is enough to surmount all those challenges? Now, what would you do if a situation simr to ours arose between you and Marcus?"
Wesley gazed at Natalie, looking bewildered. "If you were in Laura''s shoes and Marcus were in mine, what decision would you make?"
Natalie immediately dismissed the notion. "That scenario doesn''t make sense. I''m the true daughter of the Walker family, the proprietor of Goodwill Pharmacy, the global medical specialist Elim, and the creator of the famous brand NZ.
"I live independently and wouldn''t entrust the important aspects and people rted to my childbirth to anyone else."
Federrick had previously insisted that if she were to have a child, the attendants during her childbirth must be handpicked by her. Therefore, Wesley''s assumption is baseless.
"Moreover, Marcus is not you, Mr.
Holden," Natalie added, challenging
Wesley without any emotion.
"Marcus is an only child. Many women are attracted to him, yet none pose a threat. In the past, Emma, the Walker family''s adopted daughter, seeded in drugging him only at Holden Residence.
"Marcus was aware that his drink was spiked, yet he consumed it anyway. He had a reason—he wanted to use the situation to end his engagement with Emma. He was confident about not being in any real danger because I was present at the dinner party that day.
"Marcus knew I woulde to his aid. While he might use himself as bait, he
would never allow himself to be truly endangered."
Natalie''s words caused Wesley''s face to grow even paler.
Indeed, they were different from him and Laura, and such a presumption was unwarranted. Laura was an orphan. She had no influential maternal family to support her, nor did she possess any notable social standing.
Once she married him, her highest position was as thedy of the Holden family. Ultimately, even with that title, she still held no influence. Natalie''sments left Wesley inplete silence.
Natalie didn''t add anything further. Instead, she gave Wesley some medication and then administered acupuncture. Once she ensured he was steadily improving, she contacted Connie and left the medical room.
After both of them left, Laura slowly rose and approached Wesley.
"Wesley, are you alright?" Laura asked with concern in her voice as she looked at him. "If discussing the divorce is too much for you at the moment, I won''t talk about it right now.
"Let''s take a step back and rx for a bit. We can have a proper conversation about itter. Please, don''t get upset or make yourself sick, alright?"
Laura spoke gently, her eyes filled with concern and sorrow as she gazed at Wesley, yet devoid of any love. "Wesley, didn''t you once wish for my recovery? I''m doing better now.
"You should be d for me rather than making yourself unwell. You want me to be healthy, and I want the same for you. Even if we part ways, I will not forget you."
Wesley, overwhelmed with emotion and tears streaming down his face, pleaded, "Honey, please stop talking." His voice was thick with sobs. "What you''re saying is okay, but I can''t bear to hear it."
"Honey, Honey, Honey..." he repeated, calling out to Laura over and over. He feared that if he didn''t call her enough now, he might never get another chance.
Laura stopped speaking. Though she recognized Wesley''s suffering, her deepest wish was to lead her own life.
Remaining with Wesley would mean living in constant anxiety, envisioning dangers that might not exist. She feared her meals could be tainted with Umbrahex once more. She would be suspicious of anyone
who came near, questioning if Cassie had sent them.
Even more frightening was the thought that the items she wore or used could be altered by adversaries without her being aware.
Despite the fact that Natalie, Marcus'' girlfriend, had the ability to save her countless times, Laura was unwilling to endure the suffering and hopelessness of being tortured by Umbrahex for so many years again.
Even if people called her selfish, cruel, ungrateful, or insensitive, she was prepared to ept those judgments. She no longer wished to remain married to Wesley.
She didn''t want the title of Mrs. Holden or the status anymore. She wanted to relinquish it all.
"Honey, is it truly over between us?" Wesley stood up, a profound sadness radiating from him. "Can''t you find it in your heart to do this, even if I''m pleading with you?"
