Chapter 1358

    ?Chapter 1358:

This wasn’t what they expected. The web ran deeper than they were prepared to admit.

That Brenda’s daughter knew this much unsettled them more than they cared to admit.

And now, they were caught—unsure whether to speak or withhold the truth.

If they did decide to speak, where could they even begin?

One of them cleared his throat, his voice uncertain, weighed down by caution.

“Ms. Hudson, the story is long. And difficult.” His voice wavered with hesitation.

Sadie stood, her voice rising, clear and unyielding. “If you want the data, I’ll give it to you. But I need answers. All of them. If not, I’ll destroy it before I let it fall into the wrong hands.”

“Ms. Hudson, please—” another man interrupted, his tone urgent.

“We’ll tell you everything. You have our word.”

Sadie said nothing, her eyes locked on the man with an intensity that seemed to sift through every word he uttered, silently searching for cracks in the truth.

Her silence pressed against the walls like a storm waiting to break, thickening the air in the room.

Finally, the man leading the group exhaled, the sound heavy with reluctant resolve.

“Very well. You want answers—then you’ll have them.”

He motioned for the others to take their seats but remained standing himself, his gaze drifting somewhere far beyond the present. “The NE Research Institute was founded in secret over two decades ago,” he said, his voice hollowed by memory. “It was a coboration among elite biologists from across the globe, all united by one obsession—gic engineering.”

He drew a slow breath, his expression darkening. “Your mother, Brenda, was the youngest among them—but also their linchpin. Together, they created a drug that didn’t just halt human cell growth—it could reverse it. And as they pushed further, they gathered an immense archive of human gic data—data born from countless experiments in modification.”

He stopped for a beat, his voice tightening as he continued, this time with solemn weight. “If that data were ever exposed—or worse, weaponized—the fallout would be catastrophic. It holds the potential to save countless lives… but in the wrong hands, it could be humanity’s worst nightmare. Emerson, from the Wolfpack, somehow caught wind of the project. He wormed his way into your mother’s life, posing as a charming suitor—but it was all a facade.” A bitter frown tugged at his lips, and he let out a weary sigh.

“He had one goal: to seize that data for himself. Once Brenda realized what he was after, she didn’t hesitate. She destroyed parts of the institute’s archives and escaped back to her homnd with what mattered most.”

Each wordnded like a hammer against Sadie’s chest.

Everything he was saying aligned with the puzzle pieces she’d gathered from her investigation.

    g???????ν??????.?????? – ?????????? ???????? ????????

“And the Lawson Family?” Her voice was steady, but the question carried the weight of everything she feared.

A flicker of guilt crossed the man’s face.
