Chapter 360 Be Careful

    Clover’s questions keep me tied to my memories, memories that make no sense to me at all.


    Echo has tried to unlock those memories, but even she can’t find them. It is as if everything connected to my Father is gone, but I have no idea how that is possible.


    I never see anything in my memories; no faces, no buildings, no flora <i>or </i>fauna. I don’t hear anything either; no voices, no animals, just soft murmurs but nothing solid. There is no scent in my memories, just feelings.


    The oldest memory Echo could find was of the day that my Mother told me that Dad was dead and every other memory since that day.


    My memories of life with just my Mother, of life with Lucas‘ Father and Lucas as a baby and of course my life after Lucas‘ Father left. None of those memories are sad or bad, but they aren’t good memories either.


    But the memories I would love to move to that ce that hold the memories of Dad, are the ones after June escaped from Lucas‘ clutches. Let’s hope that I can find out how


    my other memories ended up there and send these other memories there.


    “How can someone forget a part of their life? I mean, all I remember are feelings and nothing else.” I ask, not expecting an answer from anyone.


    “Poison.” Clover responds and I know I am not the only one that is wondering if she has a screw loose.


    “There is a poison that can make you forget everything that happened before you ingested the poison, there is an antidote but it is a tricky antidote.” Clover says.


    Amir still hasn’t let <i>go </i>of me and I take advantage of that by burying my face in his chest, because I know that there is only one person that could have given me that poison. Now all 1 need to find out is why she gave it to me,


    “Okay. You say that there is an antidote, why is it a tricky one?” Amir asks the question that I am afraid of asking.


    “Not only does Mateja need another poison, she also needs her fated Mate to mark her at the Full Moon after she has taken the second poison.” Clover says and my heart stops beating for a


    moment.

    I never found my fated Mate and I doubt I will ever find him, I am already forty nine years old. My memories will probably stay buried for the rest of my life, I will never find out why my Mother gave me that poison.


    “Calm down, Mateja. This changes nothing, you have already lived so long without those memories. I understand that you want to remember and answers, but panicking won’t help<b>.</b><b>” </b>I hear Amir whisper into my hair.


    I concentrate on Amir’s heartbeat, I need something to focus on to keep myself from going nuts, to keep me grounded.


    My worries about my memories can wait. Now I want to take down Lucas and find out how much my Mother knew about his ns, if she even helped him n any of <b>this</b><b>. </b>


    “Amir, I want to be involved until the end. I have questions I need answers to, and there are two people who can answer them, my Mother and Lucas.” I say.


    “I need to know my Mother’s involvement, I need to know if Lucas was really willing to kill me. I know that Lucas isn’t a good male, but I am his big Sister and I know that he loved me once.” I mumble into his chest.


    I know they all heard me, that is the advantage of being a Shifter.


    “Mateja, I am not going to send you away. I already rified that in Bellwich and haven’t changed my mind….” A ringing phone interrupts his sentence and I hear him cuss as he answers it.


    “Commander, Marcel walked into the mansion five minutes ago, no rm so far. He is talking to Dawn now, both of them standing on the back porch.” A male voice sounds through the line.


    “Keep an eye on things there, we are almost at the residence.” Amir replies before he disconnects the call. There is nothing else to say and we need to keep an eye out for any watchdogs that Lucas or Marcel ced here.


    Amir told us that we would approach the residence from the back and the first thing I notice are the trees at the back of the property, just like in Bellwich. Lucas always gets a ce with many trees on the property, just to please his watchdogs.


    We quietly get out of the SUV and in seconds the other members of Amir’s unit join us, all of them Wolves and Lycans.


    “There is movement in the residence, but no idea who is inside.” One of them says and Echo pushes forward, she knows that we can get the information without getting detected.


    “No way in hell.” Amir growls when I tell him about Echo’s n.

    “Amir, I am not asking. I am not a member of your unit and you can’t stop me.” Echo growls at him and I see his eyes widen when he realizes that Echo is near the surface.


    I push her back to do some damage control, I don’t want Amir to misunderstand what Echo wants to do and I want him to know that I won’t do something that puts me in a dangerous situation.


    “Amir, we will only take a look. Echo can get a lot closer to the building and you know that. If we take a look you won’t have to go in blind, we will be very careful.” I tell him.


    He has had his eyes locked with mine while I spoke and what he saw was enough to ept our offer, “Fine, but the second someone spots you, youe back.” He says.


    I hear Amir growl when I take my clothes off, but the moment I shift into Echo, the others


    gasp.


    None of them have ever seen a Mountain Lion and most believe that we have light brown fur, but here is a light gray Mountain Lion.


    “Echo, be careful and remember, you return the second you get spotted.” Amir says as he steps


    closer to us.
