Chapter 1299

---- "Therees the Lord!" I heard several mouths cry out in excitement. I tensed, searching among the riders for this so-called Lord. He had to be the leader of this pack of werewolves. I could smell his kind. And I found him right away. His aura, full of arrogance, gave him away. A grim man, with tousled brown hair and hazel eyes that, far from warm, radiated a hatredced indifference. "Lord, have mercy on us!" Out of nowhere, a woman threw herself in front of his jet-ck horse.

I almost screamed to stop her, even took a step forward thinking the horse would trample her. It was moving way too fast, but he yanked the reins with explosive strength. The horse reared up on its front legs and neighed in fury, hooves nearly crushing the woman frozen in fear. "How dare you get in the Lord''s way, filthy creature?!" The warrior behind him-ck-haired-roared, baring his fangs. ---- He was about to dismount with a whip in hand, ready to punish her.

"No, miss," Rousse grabbed my arm just as I was about to step in, outraged. I knew it wasn''t the smartest move-I didn''t understand the rules of this world-but the scene disgusted me. "Stop, Rohan," The deep, manding voice reached my ears. For some reason I didn''t want to explore, my whole body trembled at the sound. It had to be from anger. "But Lord, she could''ve caused an ident!" "I just wanted to ask for some food!

We''re starving!" The vampire woman finally spoke up, and the others found the courage to beg as well. That Alpha male looked down at them from atop his horse. The disgust in his wolf eyes was obvious, under the dark helmet. "Distribute another ration through the gates," he said coldly, taking the reins again. ---- It was clear he was moving on. The praises and thanks for the crumbs he''d ordered were already spreading through the crowd.

I red at him with such hostility, I think he felt my challenge. Right before urging his horse forward, he suddenly lifted his head and looked at our rooftop. I was sure the darkness was hiding us, yet I felt like he could sense me. I didn''t look away as his gaze narrowed toward our location. "What? You nning toe threaten me too on your fancy little horse, you damn wolf bastard?" I muttered under my breath, daring him silently, even if I wasn''t sure he saw me.

I could make out his face-handsome and arrogant. Masculine angles, a small scar across his left brow gave him a fierce look. Straight nose, sensual lips, but with that cruel twist to them, any beauty he had made me want to w it off. When I thought he was going to send men after us... ---- "Hyal" He finally shouted to his horse and rode off, disappearing down the street into the crowd. I hadn''t realized how fast my heart was pounding-how badly I wanted him toe at me...

Just so I could destroy him. "Rousse, let''s follow him."
